Persona, leadership, longevity, success.. The man had everything. We have been blessed to have seen some wonderful, outstanding goalkeepers in the 90's and 2000's, but this guy here absolutely tops them all. Perhaps only second to Lev Yashin? I haven't seen Yashin play but I've heard incredible things about him as well.

Besides the great saves, he didn't ever fail ....I've seen him for 25 years, I don't remember a single time in which he made a bad mistake

What I really liked _technically_ about Buffon is that he was not focused on flashy saves, he was focused on minimizing risks. Many goalkeepers avoids double-touches in a front smother, like we see Buffon doing many times in this video - for example against Messi - as they _look_ like the goalkeeper is less in control, less confident. It is actually a technique that is much less prone to mistakes in case of a last second deviation or strange bounce or effect. Buffon whenever he was safe that the rebound was not dangerous, is always stopping the ball with two touches even on very simple shoots, ignoring aesthetic. However, whenever the main issue is to avoid a rebound, he gets iron hands and he blocked the ball confidently, like in 5:00. Truly a professional.

I guess you're very young, otherwise you'd have chosen Buffon save on Inzaghi in the 2003 UCL final over this one against Barca
