Doom eternal dlc confirmed abit of this.
I think that the Doomslayer would take out the Dark Lord and Samuel Hayden would absorb his power and become an equal to the slayer

Plot Twist: The Dark Priest is the commanding officer who sent him to Mars in the first place.

"Yet even the Doom Slayer revels in the spoils of his war, another shall rise from the fires: a dark priest consumed by the Crucible."

I believe Samor Maykr would use the Crucible's argent evergy to save himself from the final stages of transfiguration, and to strike a deal with the Dark Lord. With all hopes of The Father's resurrection gone,
it would make sense for him to lose faith and become corrupted as a new, and all powerful dark priest.

"... And even the Doom Slayer shall weep in his shadow."

What I find so interesting about these prophecies now that Eternal and its DLC are out is that it seems to reference events in Doom's canonical past, present, and future. The dialogue about the Slayer's origin and potentially being of Demon Kin (as later explored in TAG 2) references the past, The dialogue about Olivia at the time of Doom 2016 would reference the present, but only the dialogue involving the Dark Priest and the Crucible hasn't come to fruition, and yet its already set in place with Samuel mutating into a monster who will likely try to reclaim the Crucible for himself

I wonder if this will play into what happens after TAG 2. This event bringing the Slayer back in action. Would be cool if they had it planned out this far ahead of time.

I guess this means Davoth is going to break into the Fortress of Doom and steal the Crucible.

This is probably something left over from the drawing room before the story changed between 2016 and Eternal.

In this case, Samual was meant to be the 'Dark Priest'. But whether he will become the threat the demonic tree speaks of shall remain unknown
