As things slide into left establishment authority I feel bad saying this but Ibthink I'd rather live under a Franco than what I fear we have. On the other hand, we have a rightwing groundswell forming, so who knows. The notion of a successor culture appeals to me strongly. I am somebody who's in between cultures, never really raised in the culture of my parents and encouraged to assimilate, but never being accepted in Anglo-American culture until during and after the military, and only than begrudgingly. A hybrid culture seems the sensible alternative to me because my people only came under American rule by force and have been stuck in political limbo since. I feel the creation and hybridization happening in my own life, and I hope I can make the transition without losing my mind and sense of what I am.

Unfortunately, I think there is a leftward bent to history. If leftism is the destruction of healthy, historical norms in society, then history does seem to bend in that direction due to the advancement of technology which allows for increasingly greater mistakes to be made with increasingly reduced consequences.
Of course, the consequences will come through eventually, but until then history will continue to bend leftwards, towards entropic chaos.

The notion of "superseded by more recent scholarship" when a historical biography is in question should really be teased out if it is to be take seriously. If crucial new sources are drawn upon it might be valid, but it is odd to hear a "post-liberal" employ a framework for understanding historiography that is simplistically progressivist.
