Did you know that in the movie Forrest Gump, Forrest Gump’s accent was created from the natural voice of young actor, Michael Conner Humphreys, who was cast to play young Forrest. During production, director Robert Zemeckis quickly realized teaching the young inexperienced actor from Mississippi to mimic the voice of Tom Hanks was going to be a challenge. When Zemeckis shared this task with Hanks, the renowned actor offered a different solution. He proposed learning to imitate Humphreys' accent instead. Hanks emphasized that as the trained actor in the situation, it would be the most efficient and effective approach to proceed. Years later, it’s proved to be the right decision as Forrest Gump’s voice is still one of the most recognizable voices in movies today.
