Thank you very much . I bought the original part from the dealer for $30
When I went to the mechanic he said the part is $35 & I’m sure not the original . But the part price wasn’t the issue . He asked for $95 to replace it . I bought it for $30 & about 15 minutes trying to replace it & saved $over $100 with tips . Thx again

It was a pain to get out, un clipped, and the new one in. Much of that pain was laying on my back 1/2 way stuffed upside down under the dash. I really couldn’t see much, so I felt around and it took many tries to accomplish this. I bought the part at Advanced auto ordered it one day. It was the exact factory part with the same markings $13. The good part is, it cleared the hill start and ESC code AND my check engine light and allowed me to use cruise control again. So this part is tied to many other functions. Your video help enormously, thank you. I did a negative side battery disconnect for 20 minutes afterward. No more codes. 👍👍👍

Thanks so much for posting this video and saving me hundreds of dollars that would have gone to the mechanic. Great video and super relevant to anyone in the same boat! You made this so easy I had my 12 year old daughter change out the switch for the sense of accomplishment.

This fixed my ESC hill stability error, also had to replace 2 fuses in the car—10 and 5 amp respectively. Car has no dashboard emojis now. Thanks for the advice!

Concise, clear instructions and descriptions sir thank you very much! Will be attempting to fix later today because of your video. Love the car too! When my gf came home with her 500 I was a little skeptical but after driving I fell in love haha. Would love to drive an abarth

Note* for any owners of the RHD (right hand drive) version of this car the switch is in the passenger footwell.

Thank you so much for posting this man, it worked for my 2013 fiat sport. The esc light went away, I can finally use my cruise control and electronic stabilization control also. The engine light disappeared for a few days, but it came on again but I suspect something else being wrong with my car. Saved me loads of money so thanks man!

This was really helpful, thanks man!
Mine is a 2012 500 pop from USA and it worked as well. ESC, hill start, and completely dark dashboard all fixed (fuse F37 had to be changed for the dashboard problem).
It was hard for me to disconnect the switch (it needs a flat screw driver to push the lock and release it), then it was tricky to find the right alignment under the dashboard, but as I said, it worked.

Thanks for the info. Tight space up under that dash. Hard to get that power connection out. Only one arm can fit in that small space. Job complete. Thanks again!

Just did this fix on my 2012 500 Pop. Gonna drive around for a few days before tossing the old one, but so far seems good!

I used my apartment key to push down the little white clip in the connector in order to disconnect from the wire.

My car's been doing this for about six months but it's almost time for a state inspection so I'm going to have to fix it. My only issue is as soon as I press down the brake it goes off but it also shuts off my cruise control I don't understand why it affects the cruise control that makes no sense. And I had a full diagnostic done about a year-and-a-half ago for a start up problem but they said everything look good. These cars are literally a money pit. My car is paid off it's a 2012 pop and all the repairs it needs cost me more than it would cost for me to get a new car that's unbelievable.

Thanks! ordered the part off Amazon installed in 10 min. The new one was a little hard to twist in and it locks in counterclockwise. Also i used a long screwdriver to press the lock tab on the plug to get it to release ( not a lot of room for two hands).

The brake light switch was my culprit thank you!

My 2017 Tipo had been into the garage for a clicky clutch and then when leaving the garage the ESC, Hill Start and tire pressure all showed an error. They then told me, after a mechanic looked at it, the break light switch was faulty and they would order one in. I checked it this morning after watching this video and it wasn't mounted properly. Once i had put it in correctly the errors were fixed and those functions worked again.

On my 2012 fiat 500 the esc light comes on and when I turn off the car it goes away, it’s giving me the hill start assist unavailable and it won’t shift, till I turn it off and on again everything goes away till it comes back again…my reverse lights are working could it be the brake light switch?

Thank you! Do you know if this works for an automatic as well?

Hi, I bought the part and got able to take off the old one. But I don't seem to be able to put the new one in for some reason. Did you do anything special? I can put it in place but looks like I would need something to push the pin because the gap is too big and the part just won't let me turn

drove in snow and was redlining for awhile, ESC ABS and hill start warnings came on. Will this part fix all 3?
