Smartphone controlled WiFi car | esp32 | Mecanum wheels

Hi All,

In this video we are going to make wi-fi car using esp32 microcontroller and programmed using Arduino IDE.
We will use Mecanum wheels so that car can be moved in any direction. Car will be controlled using our mobile phone.
We will control dc gear motors speed and direction using cheap L298N motor driver module.
The same code can work for esp8266 as well after installing the required libraries.

I have explained in details each step along with code.

There’s need for more detailed explanation on the codes in this project or share a link that can teach a beginner on the codes and how to modified if proper understanding takes place

Your explanations are very clear, the documentation is very complete as is usual with your projects. I could assemble the car easily in the first try and it worked. Wifi connects OK and the car obeys instructions perfectly. The only issue is that WIFI disconnects after some time and I have to switch the car again to restablish WIFI. Distance of only a couple of meters from the car. Tried with different phones and ipad. Using rechargeable batteries fully loaded. I noticed other people have similar comments. You replied to them suggesting they use rechargeable batteries, but this is what I am using.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I want to add weight scale buzzer and ultrasonic sensors to this wifi car.
4 ultrasonic sensor that will detect and stop motion of the car in a particular direction and a buzzer will buzz.
A weight scale that will measure small weights.
My question is will it be possible to add these things and edit the code to make the entire thing work?

What do you think 💭 can make an Esp32 that has previously see a phone and work & stop connecting to all phones even after using another esp, the problem remain the same

Thanks for sharing your great work and I am also trying to help my son building a similar robot his school project. I am fairly new with C++ and have two questions if you could help us with. How can I go about integrating with Bluetooth instead of Wifi and how should the code be modified? My second question is how to apply PWM to control speed and, if possible, improve the speed of the robot. I look forward to hearing your thoughts? Thanks

Love the way this works. I'm trying to add a servo to the project, with a slider to open and close pincers, but the code seems to be out of my league. Got any suggestions for that?

i did like everything you said, but only left motor is working? I check the right motor with battery, as ssoon i connected it all, only left motor work?

Just completed this project and works like a charm. My grandson loves it. But he keeps banging it against the walls and furniture. Made me think if I can add anti-collision. I think the standard ultrasonic sensor may not work because it moves in all direction. Also any ideas on docking and charging like in robotic vacuums. I have added OTA and connected to my home wifi. Thanks again for the wonderful video
