Looking back, her 10-1 performance was by far the best in the competition that year. She even said in an interview that she spent the most time practicing the two etudes.

10-1s are tricky, most people shouldn't pick it (sumino etc), disaster if your technique isn't perfect. Hers is brilliant, very nice. Actually both her etudes are excellent. Well done, taiwan, both her and Chang Kai-Min are contenders, very proud

she is the best from 3 of those Taiwanese participants that move to next stage, i think she will go be top 6 probably, and once u get into final stage, anyone can have chance to win the title, so she must play scherzo no.2 op31, op22 the polone, and no.1 e minor op11 if she wants to win

I've loved listening to Szu yu play since she was a young girl. This preliminary recital was as good as always. I was disappointed she didn't advance further, and I'm wishing she will make another appearance in the 2025 XIX chopin.
