High-Lonesome Bluegrass ~ THE OCOEE PARKING LOT BLUEGRASS JAM

Показать описание
LISTEN TO THAT HIGH-LONESOME TENOR AND PUT YOURSELF IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS AWESOME SUMMER JAM. (720p-HD) We find ourselves in the center of this awesome little bluegrass gospel jam in the hot sun as it sets over Ocoee, in Central Florida.
Beneath the osprey nests atop the parking lot lights the July sun's rays blast the lens, and near 100 degree temperature shuts the camera down until dusk, and the air cools, but the musicians don't seem to notice the heat. They've come to play and sing, and the music is as pure and inspiring as ever.
There are a number of high points in this program. In addition to the inspired performances of regular, core musicians, please don't leave without catching the fine flat-picking of Bill Barnard and his counterpoint gospel with Jack Lewis (24:28). Additionally, there is a nice Civil War melody sung by Russell White (13:14), and a moving finish by Johnny Adams (36:09).
The title of the video defines a voice characteristic of traditional bluegrass, a-la Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys' "high-lonesome" sound. How better to represent this in the jam than with the fine voice of Bill Phillips, an alumnus of the Monroe band. Bill kicks off the jam with his great "high-lonesome" style and picks it up a couple of songs later with my favorite, "Baby Blue Eyes." (7:03)
There are other jammers who stepped up tonight, as you will hear: Bassist Bill Miller always finds the right groove and drives the group home. There would be a big hole without the gospel and country songs, and the leadership of Gerald Creed. And, it's good to have Jerry Jernigan participating more often with his humorous tunes. Typical of many jams, the musicians share a great musical fellowship.
