Wish I would have read this book back when it came out. It took me so damn long to get serious about my future. Thank you Mr. Bogle.

So can this book be summed up by “invest in index funds and stay for the long haul and don’t go hopping your money around all the time

Thank you for posting this. What an incredibly informative book. This has completely changed my view in favor of indexing. Thank God for John Bogel. RIP..

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months, my portfolio was reading $274, 800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.

SNP500: 500 top performing stocks accounting for 80% of total market cap of all stocks, weighted according to market cap, weighted according to market cap
Wiltshire 5000: 4971 stocks including the SNP500, also weighted according to market cap
The values of each correlate almost perfectly
These are index funds
Index funds > mutual funds
Mutual funds give u less control and have more costs associated w them compared to index funds
Not all index funds are created equal
Look for all-market index funds with the lowest costs possible
Index funds of any sector or scale tend to outperform analogous actively managed funds
Index funds > ETF > mutual funds
Optimal strategy: buy and hold and only cash out/sell when u absolutely have to, to avoid taxes and other fees

If you’re already a believer of index funds, this is not much of a “new info” type of book. This is for the more curious ones.

VOO, and some blue chip, Kings and Aristocrates, champions, challengers are way to go, just pick out the good ones, and keep VOO as well. Gather the divies afterward.

The market easily makes a fool of the thinker/overthinker...one who does not think and just does, wins at the end...how ironic..LOL
