Interpol | Untitled | 2002

Interpol’s debut album, Turn On the Bright Lights, was released on this day, the 19th of August 2002. The album has been seen as helping define 2000s indie rock, and Interpol have been cited as helping usher in the New York-born post-punk revival scene, along with contemporaries such as the Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and TV on the Radio.

This video synchs live footage of the band performing in 2002, to the album opening track, Untitled.

this was one of those pieces of music that defined my 20s. i was so lost in that period not knowing what was cool and not knowing what to do. the thing about being in your 20s that despite discovering lots of cool films and music. you come in thinking you know everything and you're going to know so much more but by towards the end of your 20s. you realize you knew nothing at all and you feel disappointed. that, the death of my younger sister, and all of that contributed to my depression that lasted a year during the age of 29. thankfully, i'm ok for now.
