Got their name from a song¹ that the lead singer did for his former band after he got kicked out of the band he made his own band called Motörhead with the self titled and first song called Motörhead

² he wrote and recorded the song ³

³ so technically it's a cover but it's a cover of his own song with a different band

It doesn’t matter what your band name is. Coldplay is quite a stupid name. The songs are what matters. The scientist would have still been a huge hit even if it was by the pectoralz, as long as the pectoralz had put in the same amount of work that Coldplay did.
