Jens Coorssen (BSc '86, MSc '89) - Alumni of Distinction Recipient 2012

Jens Coorssen has established himself internationally as a highly respected and distinguished researcher. His scientific investigations have spanned many subjects, including cell physiology, electrophysiology, proteomics and lipidomics. The work has an impact in a wide range of health concerns, including injuries to the spinal cord and central nervous system, seizure disorders, memory/cognitive deficiencies and pre-term labour. In 2008, Coorssen was appointed foundation professor of Molecular Physiology, a new department in the School of Medicine at the University of Western Sydney (Australia). He has won many international awards for his research and credits Brock for contributing to his success.
