Thank you for this video. I googled SNHU youtube review because I wanted to see if anyone else felt how I feel.
As an SNHU mathematics student, not only do I agree with all this (which is not all necessarily bad), but I also feel a tension between "completing the work" and "learning". Math simply can not be deeply learned in the accelerated schedule, and I feel sometimes that my education is kind of compromised or limiting. We cover all the same topics as other colleges page for page, but move FAST through the material. I come away feeling like I "have done it", not that I "can do it". I am thankful my first two years were much more rigorous at the local community college.

You are absolutely on point about rigour!

Ive attended for the past three years and I HAVE NOT had this experience. It depends on the class whether you have pre recorded or live class sessions. It really does depend on your professor each professor has a different style of teaching. I am not knocking your experience but I'm honestly happy to say that I don't agree with this video and that is ok. You all have to make your own decision here but I graduate next year and I don't have these experiences. Everyones experience is definitely not the same.

I am a senior at SNHU and I have experienced everything that you stated especially the part about professors saying things like welcome back from Christmas break and we’re in spring months and I’ve also had a few teachers who couldn’t help me with assignments that THEY “assigned”.

Thank you, Amanda, for sharing all of your experiences. I earned a BA and an MS in Psychology at SNHU. I have experienced all the things you've described. I have made the most of it, and to be honest, I have learned so much in the field of Psychology. I did feel like a number at SNHU, in fact, I've had to make formal complaints against a few instructors because they issue work and expect perfection from you however, their provided curricula totally lacks in too many ways. To make a long story short It is what you make of it. SNHU is far better than most of the online learning environments that are available today.

Yes they do not teach at all! I have a professor that does not teach but wants to be a tough grader. SIR! YOU DON'T TEACH SHIT! I'm in the accouting and finance major.

Thank you for your thoughts on SNHU online. 100% on all points! Everything you said is true for me too. Graduating in December with a degree in Anthropology. Taking my first 300 level courses and they are not more rigourous than level 2 courses. I have wondered if I was getting a lower quality education. After listening to your video and reading some of the comments by SNHU online students, my concerns are affirmed. Hoping that a degree from SNHU online does not compromise by acceptance at graduate programs I am applying to after graduation.

I am in my first course and it definitely feels that way with my instructor as well. I am grateful it isn't very rigorous as bad as that sounds. The goal is to earn a Master's degree and then learn on the job. People hire you for what the resume says so if I add a Master's degree on my resume then that is all that matters to me at the end of the day. To each their own though, and I can definitely understand the frustration, especially when trying to learn something completely new. I pretty much learn by doing, not by what a book tells me.

I finished my BS in business admin in march of 2023. That school is too easy. No tests, i feel like everything is graded too highly, and its all watered down

Honestly it fits my learning style, I actually hated class, and preferred to just learn things through the textbook and google sources on my own. I do not want to attend someone's lecture, as professors often seem overworked and tired, not only do they just seem so dreary, but not everyone's learning style is the same. and I often do not learn the same way as them, many times when it comes to material or textbooks, I can at least sort out the information and figure it out on my own.

The flexibility and cheapness of SNHU has been an absolute game changer to me, but just like your video. This is just my opinion.

Excellent video Amanda. I plan on embedding it in an article on SNHU. Have been documenting the rise and fall of robocolleges over the last decade.

You mentioned that the minimum requirement was one doubled spaced page to complete the assignment. My interpretation of the underlying message of the assignment would be an emphasis on concision. Especially coming from an English educational discipline, there might be less of an emphasis on rumination and a greater emphasis on factual description. Science is a different perspective.

Thank you for posting! I'm looking at that online school I want to go too and this helps!

I am a current student in my second semester and I 100% agree with EVERYTHING you said! I initially thought things would get better after the 1st semester however it has not! I honestly feel cheated. I’ve decided to withdraw and go elsewhere after this semester.

SNHU spent 3 years telling me I was an evil oppressor. They promised a minor in Justice Studies and then refused to award it, because they just quit offering it, despite my courses being oriented for that. Horrible school.

Good luck on your journey, Amanda. As a current middle school teacher with a strong background in English, I am sorry to see you leave the profession. It’s sad to lose good people.

Regardless, I am excited to see where this path leads for you. I imagine you will be fantastic wherever you end up.

Peace and love to you, dear lady.

As a business SNHU student I must be biased but as a non native international one, I feel the classes are rather hard, especially if you want to reach A grades all the time. The weekly assignments also really taxing for people with family and work. 😊 Good luck to you 🙏

I have many open communications iwth all my teachers. They answered all my questions always. The only thing I would have benefited from was getting grades back before you submit the following week because they waited until Sunday night, and all my work was done and posted before Friday. Either way. Graduated 2 months early and with an A BA Psy and starting my Masters.

I'm sorry this was your experience. My books were updated in 2023 for the classes I'm taking now. I have lectures that I can watch or participate in every week.
I do agree with the curriculum... it could be more thought out and personalized.
I'm currently studying for a BS Data Analytics.

Yes, the content has been recycled for nearly a decade now for some programs. Very outdated. And it is basically bought. They hire third-party companies to update the content but it is piecemeal. They are doing “autofeedback” in some courses, which is essentially encouraging instructors to copy/paste. Announcements are often boilerplate as well. I’m sure there are many great instructors still. But the integrity of the school as a whole is on a steady decline. They are in it for money now and getting extremely sloppy. It’s only a matter of time before more students notice. The page number requirement is a great example. Nothing is cohesive. You’re very perceptive. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts. Other people should know these things. I do hope you can make the most of your time there and your degree. I’m sure you will!

I agree with some of things you've said. I'm almost done with my Master's degree in Creative Writing. Like you mentioned, it really does depend on the instructor. For the most part, my professors have been helpful and engaging. I wouldn't say it was easy either, especially if you don't follow the rubric correctly. My last instructor wasn't good on communication, but her "lectures" were helpful and I do feel like I've learned a lot from not only the course, but from the other students. I have noticed the "Welcome back" messages, but I thought that was the last time they taught the course.
