I have a pair of "saddle bags" for my legs from another manufacturer (probably 30+ years old and still good). These are very similar but look they might have some more uses. I've used them with day packing, hunting, hikes, etc. Might sound funny, but where I go, I need more than I can jamb in my pockets and these are more comfortable. Now, I use MOLLE leg platforms.
