I'm in the US Army. I remember after my 2nd tour of duty in Iraq, I was put on funeral detail, and I had to present the flag to the next of kin. It was a great honor to be a part of honoring all the Hero's who didn't make it home, but also one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life. Trying not to let your voice crack or shed a tear while reciting the speech and handing over the flag. It's hard. God Bless those who didn't make it home and the families of all those Hero's. Wonderful song, Mr. Jennings.

My father was a veteran. While everyone around me at the funeral was crying, I had to keep it together. I did quite well until a young boy that didn't know us or my father brought me his flag. He was crying so hard that I let a tear slip myself. I'll never forget that kid and the respect, emotion and genuine kindness he showed.

I absolutely love this! My husband is a Combat Veteran from, Iraqi Freedom. He suffers from severe PTSD. He fights with his demons daily. It truly breaks my heart to watch him go through all of this. The VA is pretty much useless for him. I feel like there should be more resources for him. He, like other Veterans, fought for this country for OUR, freedom only, to be disrespected by people kneeling at the national anthem, and not giving the adequate help/services he and others need....
Also, let me say that if anyone needs to talk, just to vent or whatever it may be, I will be your sounding board!! 24/7 365 days a year! I don't care what it is or how long it takes, I will listen! Always remember, you are NEVER alone! Much love to all and God bless all you Veterans!

I’m a USMC veteran, this song says it all especially in today’s world. I came back from Nam in ‘70, I was a body escort several times. To hand that Flag to a parent, wife or girl friend was the saddest part. Song speaks the truth.

I've been in four of these funerals. The first one, I saw after the shots, then the folding. At the end of the folding the soldier tucked something into the flag before presenting and handing it to my aunt in law . I asked ppl what they tucked in there. The general was there, I asked, he wouldn't answer me. I eventually learned it was shells from the three gunman, from their seven shots. -three gunman, seven shots, twenty one...
I've witnessed four of these funerals. My grandpa was the first. Incredibly moving. Taps. No other music hits your soul like that. I feel this song deeply. Thank You Whey for this beautiful song. God bless you and all who serve
