Показать описание
The GLADIATOR SSB is one of the largest transistorized mobile-CB-radios ever built. Just the ZODIAC SSB-15072 is a bit larger in his sizes. The radio includes 23 channels SSB/AM, with an original power output of 3.5 watts AM and 10 watts SSB. The receiver uses also a 2nd IF with 455kHz for the AM mode. That was special in the year 1971. The later manufactured GLADIATOR includes 40 channels and a new 4/12 watts output final. The PLL in this new release is the famous upd858 by uniden.

A bit old school, none the less very interesting. It would cost a small fortune for all the crystals for it these day. It had been a very good radio in its day by the looks of it. Strange how they chose to drop the transformer into the middle of the CB for Home Base use. Bit strange, but at least it has a good sized speaker unlike today in modern CBs. Modern speakers are littler than the little transistor I used to use for listening to pirate radio stations when I should have been sleeping. Got caught a few times doing that, when I used the headphone it was even easier for them to catch me, Those were the day, no worries, let your parents worry about everything.
Nice CB for its day. Some of the new CBs struggle to put out 3 watts!

May I ask what do you do with all these transceivers once you have demonstrated them on You Tube do you have some sort of museum or do you sell them on if I'm guessing you must have hundreds of them
