Paper Mache Spider

I made a paper mache Black Widow decoration for Halloween. I used UV resin to harden the fangs and eyes. The wire used is 14 gauge galvanized, the spookiest gauge.

I did a similar thing on a smaller scale a years ago. I made 3 paper mache Red Back Spiders (Australia's native widow spider) for a Halloween wreath for my mum. Used aluminium foil and wire for an armature and glass seed beeds for eyes.

Paper mache is extremely underrated and fun to do!

Everyone should check out the paper mache creations of Chris Walas (the man who designed the Gremlins and The Fly) as well as the work of Dan Reeder at his Gourmet Paper Mache site.
