Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well and allows you to buy fewer, better things.

Too many things can go wrong with white, definitely would stick to the Costco brand. I love black pocket tee shirts, recently got a 3sixteen one for like $45 and it’s one of my favorites.

I bought some Good Fellow tees few years ago and they really are decent. I've worn and washed the crap out of them so time to get some new ones. For me getting 6 tees for the same cost as 1 or 2 name brand is a no brainer in this aspect of wardrobe.

With white clothes, I usually accidentally destroy them before they could ever wear out. How do you keep that stuff clean?

Thanks for the review. I’ve had good luck with the Kirkland/Costco white undershirts. They do darken quickly, but the necks tend not to stretch or sag on me. They’re good as undershirts for work or office wear, but I wouldn’t use them as stand alone shirts. I’ve been using those for about 7-8 years in Florida and west Tennessee humid climates for reference.

One other thing to add on about Goodfellow & Co. is the variety of color options available. I have been looking for years and have not found anywhere close to the same types of colors you can get at your local target. I’m not a fan of pocket tees as I find it hard to dress them up even slightly for my needs so blank tees are my bread and butter.

I started getting Target brand tees back in high school when I got my first job because that was the best I could afford on a small paycheck. Back then they were still Mossimo brand which is now defunct and replaced by Goodfellow at a much better quality shirt. I still have some Mossimo shirts but those things are riddled with pilling. I’ve worn a good bit of Goodfellow shorts over the past several years and none have changed in texture as much as Mossimo did.

If you’re wanting to experiment with different colors or patterned shirts, I’d say Target is a good place to go. I started out with a literal rainbow spectrum of colors when finding what I liked best and now I have a good assortment of blacks, blues, greens, and reds/pinks. Target is hard to beat when most of their shirts are $6-10 and you can get more color options than much higher quality brands.

I got the Goldenfoxboots Boondockers after you mentioned them as an alternative to more expensive heritage boots. I have really been enjoying them. They are well made and very comfortable. Really appreciate that you point out the stuff that is well made yet still affordable

I have been switching to wool over the last few years and recently found the Proof 72 hour from Huckberry. Would love if you did a review like this on merino tees.

Grabbed a Kirkland after this (and carl’s other T-shirt podcast). These things are thick and have a workwear aesthetic without being boxy—no side seams (6 for 25$ to your door!)

Bravestar is also doing some awesome stuff with 8.5 oz tshirts for 26$. I picked up an Olive one and I will be getting more once they stock.

I gotta add one: Imogene and Willie make an amazing white crew neck. If you're built up top, it'll drape over you exceptionally well

Pro 5 makes the best white tee for the money. The super heavy cotton option is the best way to go. They also have big and tall sizing

Gotta go with The Flat Head for best T shirts in general. I’d recommend trying one out if you haven’t, they have a perfect balance of fit, interesting fabric/weave, a collar that doesn’t suffocate you and doesn’t restrict movement. In my opinion they have no peers.

I went to a thrift shop in Denver and bought a striped Freenote for like 5 or 10 bucks. Perfect condition and everything. It's wild to see their shirts on this list-- I had no idea what I was buying at the time!

I usually buy uniqlo supima cotton t-shirts. Now I'm interested to try the Kirkland Signature. It was cool to learn about the higher end stuff too. Thanks. :)

Great video. My favorite Tee is from Calvin Klein. A 3 pack is $60, but they are very well made, and great for hot days.

Great content Carl! I do recommend the Kirkland brand white tee’s as well. Great fit to them. Was wondering if you’d be able to do some content on mens fragrances? Nothing to crazy, just some recommendations. Thanks Carl!

Cost per wear, buy it for life (BIFL), better quality stuff = owning less stuff.

I'm late to the Carl YouTube channel but am happy that I found you and StrideWise.

Rocking the Red Wings and just got my wilder backpack from Bradley Mountain.

Your brand of content is great, pulling the plug on mindless TV. Keep up the great work!
