#149 Japanese React to【Rainych】 Mayonaka no Door / STAY WITH ME - Miki Matsubara

Hi Tomodachis!

Today, we react to Rainych Ran singing a cover of "Mayonaka no Door / STAY WITH ME" ( 真夜中のドア ）in Japanese! This popular J-Pop song recently had a resurgence thanks not only to Rainych's cover but also as a TikTok challenge where Japanese kids would play this to their parents who all immediately knew the song. This catchy song really captures the bubble era of the later Showa Years in Japan.

This song was originally sung by Miki Matsubara, who sadly is no longer here with us today.

Should we do more Taiwanese and Japanese reaction to music covers?

I can't remember how or where I heard it, but I've heard the original version of this song a few times, probably from some TV show or Anime. The original version supposedly came out in late 1979 (about 9 years before I was born).

This was a nicely done update of the song!

Nice music video, and the song is also very nice. It sounds very familiar, but i think it's because in older anime the openings had some similar sounds.
