Well it is clearly not mentioned that the reason Napoleon made the deal is because Haiti's revolutionaries were kicking his ass all over the place. So thank you Haiti for facilitating the doubling of USA's size for little cost.

Napoleon sold this big chunk of land because he had lost his richest colony, haiti, to the slave revolution. You could say he was broke and had lost some of his best troops during the war down in haiti. The haitians went on to support the new nations of latin america that were fighting for indepence from the others colonial powers, mainly spain. So this little nation of xlaves caused some of the greatest changes inhuman history, and lets not forget that the industrial revolution that followed these events, was financed by the wealth created by the slaves in the old colonies. Have a nice day.

Please adjust the money for inflation. 15 million in 1803 Is a much different amount than today's dollars. Adjusted its 300 million in today's money. 60 cents an acre. Still a great deal.

concerning the point 0:20, I actually read that Spain ceded the territory to Napoleon’s France in 1800 -not 1803- and finally in 1803 it volunteered to sell the entire Louisiana territory to the United States. any help here?

If it wasn't for Haiti America wouldn't be the size that it is

A piece of context: France was engulfed in what is known as the Nopoleonic wars and needed all its resources back home. Louisiana was more of a burden that anything else and nearly no frenchmen lived there except in New-Orleans and St. Louis; that's it.
