About Timberborn:
Mankind turned Earth into a dry wasteland and perished, but some species adapted and evolved. Choose one of the unique beaver factions and see how long your colony can last!

Wet and dry seasons

Prepare your settlement for recurring droughts. Stockpile on food and keep fields and forests alive even after rivers dry up. Rely on both natural water sources and artificial irrigation to keep the land arable.

River control

Redirect rivers, put up dams and dig water canals with explosives – beavers of the future have millennia of experience in water engineering. But be careful, uncontrolled flooding is as deadly as a dynamite blast!

Lumberpunk

Turn timber into sophisticated machinery, buildings, and monuments. Wood is the core resource in Timberborn, but the most advanced structures require metal. To find it, send your scavengers to the ruins of the old world.

Vertical architecture

Create a thriving beaver settlement using a modular, vertical architecture system. Space is limited, so stack lodges and workshops on top of each other, cover hills with fields, and set up a power grid for your growing population.
Day and night cycle

Build a prosperous city with efficient production chains and beaverish nighttime activities. Follow the lives of individually simulated inhabitants throughout their day and celebrate when the next generation is born!
Wellbeing

Satisfy the needs of your colonists to extend their lifespan and make them happier. An evolved beaver's lifestyle is not just "work, sleep and chomp on wood". Balanced diet, decorations, temples, even carousels – you take care of it all.
Beaver societies

Control different beaver factions, each with unique style, buildings, and gameplay traits. While some beavers are expert farmers, another family might rely on rapid industrialization. Choose what fits your playstyle!

Map editor

Play on one of the included maps or create your own and share it with the community! With hills of different height, ruins scattered in the desert, and all life depending on access to water, each map poses a different challenge.
...and more!

We regularly add new features and iterate, based on the community's feedback. We’re making the world’s first beaver city-builder and we want to make it special, so stay in the loop and add Timberborn to your wishlist today!

Big Eggplant here. I awoke with an idea, spinning in my head.
One word: "Towers!"
We take minimal ground space and we spiral into the sky like the trees! With overhangs as branches we shall grow forever upward!
The GWP in the sky will be most pleased. The mud baths overlooking the cliffs are most picturesque, if only we had a mining/digging compound on a hill to exploit.
May the great KoS guide us to plump and large eggplant harvests.
The Great KoS in the sky has declared! Beavers are now SEXY!!!!
That’s what she said

You can set the height of your pumps, if you limit them to 1 high they'll turn off after they drain 1 file of water.
Very good for drought control.

Hej beaver-friend. My name is Pika, and I just finished my swim in the breeding pod! I cam out all wet and slippery, and it was nice to dry my fur off a bit! I shook out as much water as I could, and then walked over to a scratching post. Oooh, the bristles felt so good running through my coat! I rubbed my right shoulder against it to get some extra scritches! I think its my favorite place to be in the whole colony!

I love watching the older beavers working their jobs, especially the inventors drinking latte in the spinny huts. I really want to be an inventor, but I was told that we have an automatic calculation thingy with all kinds of whirly gears and twisty thingies working on inventimacation so that beavers can do other jobs like farming, pulling up water through the sucky thingies, and building stuff. Maybe I`ll be a builder when I grow up, or a farmer, growing crops as far as the eye can see!

My parents care for me very much, and now that we are reunited, they have been teaching me how to be the best beaver I can be: encouraging me to try all the different foods, showing me all the fun places to hang out, and how to worship the Divine KoS and the Great White Pointer. I promise I have seen it in the sky flitting around! it goes super fast, like a dandelion seed on the wind! The grownups dont believe me, but I always catch it out of the corner of my eye when I am playing in the fields. It gives me proof that the KoS is watching over us, and helping us plan our colonies.

I live in the newest area, which the beavers call Eggplant Caverns, and I'm looking forward to taking my place in the colony and working hard because we Iron Teeth love to work hard, work hard!

"The hoomans used to keep them as pets. These 'felines' were about our size, and they _were_ mammals, but in no other way did they interact with Beaverkind. We didn't even live in the same spaces."
"Yet there it is, inhabiting a core expression of our Beaver society: 'Holy Fuzzy Cats'. Where do you think it comes from?"
"I don't know. And I have no idea why 'fuzzy' and no idea why the hoomans would worship..."
"Are you guys finished researching those new Water Gauges?"
"No, we were talking about cats..."
" . . and why it seems to mean delight/amazement/surprise . . ."
" ... and do they have to be fuzzy."

"Water. Gauges. Now! ...aaauughh!"
". . . "
"We were just wondering where the phrase..."
"I need accurate Bad Water levels by nightfall tomorrow. And you are going to _take_ those measurements - one way or another."
". . . "
"Holy Fuzzy Cats."

"Rampage on the Farmlands' - The Valley Voice, Sanja SwimsWell, editor

The Town Council met earlier today to discuss the ramifications of the Mid-River Kohlrabi Farms incident. You will recall that, last week, whole fields of this leafy crop were ripped out by roving bands of motivated teenagers. The teens were heard saying, 'We're not gonna eat this __ anymore!'
Surprisingly, the youths were fully exonerated by the council today, with the Chief Councilman quoted as saying, 'Those kits did us a favor! My whole life, having to eat that cursed green ____."
In support of the teens, and with the blessing of the Council itself, the Artist Colony is beginning work on a new statue entitled, 'Brightful Future'. The enclave's Head Artist said, "It will depict an idealized Farmer, standing in his field with his hoe, smashing the __ out of a cabbage plant."
The afternoon then flowed into a moderate chaos, as the Council spent the next 3 hours debating whether Kohlrabi was in fact a cabbage or a turnip.

(editor's note: certain words censored above, as uncouth and too-closely related to the Badwater Flood and its characteristics.)

I heard laughter today while i was going about my day collecting scraps and it made me laugh as well then i had a thought: what sort of thingy thingies are they working on researching next inside the number cruncher because nothing seems to come out of that place other than designs for buildings whether it be sluices or designs to add to beaver happiness but all is good no matter what is going on there. It seems things are going good up north as the water storage up there is growing and farms are going in. The future is looking good. ~ Tenth entry from Chekta the Beaver.

You don't have to be a content creator to be good at forgetting but it helps 😉
14:02 The new ability to transfer power up into buildings through power shafts is really neat.
16:04 The beavers could probably have built the floodgates by standing on the sluices. (Edit: they did; the stairs didn't get built until 29:35! You then also avoided that at 27:25.)
18:34 Won't that area fill up naturally once the floodgates on the deep water box get built? (It could also be set to drain during a drought when you pump the deep water box dry, if that's what you want.)
24:05 The problem wasn't the position so much as needing to have room for the trees underneath to grow.
30:00 Well, I got my sluice in the end, if for a different reason...
For drought control you could try using more of those deep water boxes but keeping them small (relying on the water depth) so they don't affect irrigation too much when they get pumped dry during a drought.
35:34 I wonder how many people are going to be "triggered" by having one of the water pumps the other way around when you could have had all of them the same way (or maybe half and half would be prettier).
36:25 Huh, you still have four other unconnected buildings somewhere.
37:25 I actually guessed right for once! And that was after turning off those two Foresters as well.
38:13 You're not really minus three beavers, since those are all latte hut jobs. (Well, at that point in time at least.)
44:38 Bad Scrapton seems to have two pumps, and a very small amount of spare water.
50:55 Yay, power line planning is complete!
Those breeding pods in Bad Scrapton probably aren't reversing migration, but if they are producing enough beavers to maintain that district's population then any spare are probably going to Mangrove Grove instead.

"GASP!!!! The Great KOS had heard me?! I heard my name from the great beyond and it was the Great KOS praising me?! And she loves how I speak as well?! This is very much news to me and I am honored so much! Have I been blessed?! This is a lot of excitement and I am lost for words! Thank you Great KOS! I am happy to serve you for my service (assuming she sees my diary entry, of course). I value the other beavers as well, noting their stories. Though, I want to ask how Little Tail is doing beside you? Is he fulfilling his duties as an angel beaver?

Anyway, back to the report: One forester, I've gathered, was not enough to plant the forest up north in 'Eggplant Caverns, ' as the town is now called (I think...). Yet, I don't see how another would help. The district, though it isn't one yet, is expanding well.

Floods have been happening in the lowlands for some odd reason as well. Can't quite put my paw on it... I'll have one of the latte makers get back to me on it.

Though, I did hear rumors of adding 'Mechanical beavers' in the colony. Many have doubts on that as it would replace their workload. However, the jobs would get done much quicker. I would have to think on that, and all these other considerations over a cup of latte."

- Diary of Soft Paws, Overseer of Complicated Beaverton, Entry #13

Side note: hearing you laugh and loving the silliness of Soft Paws makes me happy that I'm (and everyone else) giving joy and laughter to you. It's feels like my mitzvah for the day (or good deed). Please, keep churning out these videos and keep it up, KOS. You bring many smiles :D

Also, can you just give a shoutout in a video to my friend, Carly? Been telling her about you and how wonderful you are and she is tempted to do this same beaver journal thingy we do. Can you give her encouragement please? Thank you so much!

The slices upstream from your water "box" should be set to close *above* contamination, so they don't let through the bad water. Otherwise, all those mangroves are gonna be toast...

Not really good at role playing, so feel free to use this information. A comment about the stopping of pumping during a drought at 33:40. It's not the same as what you want, but you could change the depth of the pumps to be just e.g. one deep it would stop during a drought, when the threshold is hit

As the sun rose over the bustling Beaver Town of Timberborn, I, the newly appointed Mair, stood atop the grand dam that held back the mighty river. From this vantage point, I could see the entire town in motion, each beaver scurrying to their assigned tasks with a sense of purpose.

Timberborn had been through tough times before, enduring dry seasons that turned the river into a trickle and left our crops parched. But my election as Mair brought hope. My plan was simple yet ambitious: to build a series of irrigation canals that would ensure water reached every corner of our town, even in the driest seasons.

The first task was to organize the building workers. They were the backbone of our community, skilled in felling trees, carving logs, and constructing the wooden structures that kept Timberborn thriving. I called a meeting in the town square, where I laid out my vision.

“Beavers of Timberborn, ” I began, “our survival depends on the water that flows through our town. We must work together to build canals that will sustain us through the harshest droughts. Each of you has a role to play, and together, we will secure our future.”

With that, the workers dispersed to their assigned duties. The lumberjacks headed to the forest, their sharp teeth ready to fell the towering pines. Carpenters gathered at the sawmill, where logs were transformed into sturdy planks. Meanwhile, engineers began surveying the land, marking the paths for the new canals.

Days turned into weeks as the project progressed. The sound of hammers and saws filled the air, mingling with the rhythmic flow of water as the first sections of the canal were completed. I made regular rounds, offering guidance and encouragement to the workers, ensuring that each task was carried out with precision.

One morning, as I inspected the northern sector, I noticed a problem. The terrain was rocky, making it difficult to dig the canal bed. I called for a meeting with the engineers and the strongest workers. Together, we devised a plan to blast through the rock, using controlled explosions crafted from a mixture of natural elements.

The operation was risky, but the workers executed it flawlessly. As the dust settled, a clear path emerged, allowing the canal to continue its course. This victory bolstered the spirits of the entire town, and progress accelerated.

Finally, the day came when the last segment of the canal was completed. We gathered at the dam to celebrate. As I gave the signal, the gates were opened, and water surged through the new channels, spreading life-giving moisture to every corner of Timberborn.

Cheers erupted from the crowd as we watched the water flow, knowing that our hard work had paid off. Timberborn was now a beacon of resilience and ingenuity, a testament to what could be achieved through unity and determination.

As Mair, I felt a deep sense of pride. We had not only secured our survival but also laid the foundation for a prosperous future. The beavers of Timberborn had shown that with strong leadership and collective effort, even the most daunting challenges could be overcome.

Why did the beaver workers always carry pencils?

Because they wanted to be "dam" good at drawing up plans!
