So Tyler accused Mark of scamming this family, decided to help this family in the same way Mark did, Tyler found out it was the family that was doing the scamming so he now wants Mark to help him fix his situation by putting more money into this family that scammed them both and their viewers? Nah, I’m with Mark on this one. If you want to fix this, do it yourself. No good deed goes unpunished.

I'm on Marks side. They knew exactly what they were doing, scammed Mark, lied to Tyler, and Tyler ran with something knowing he'd get views.

Personally I don't think a new house should be bought for the Whittakers. They won't look after it, and it will look the same as their current house within a few years. Best thing to do is just try and improve what they already have.

As a recovering addict, I remember those calls to family about how I constantly needed “grocery money”…they’d give it to me & a couple days later, I was asking again. You could NOT have trusted me with $100 back then, let alone $150k. If someone in the family is an addict, any money they get is going to “disappear” pretty quickly.

Everyone seems to forget Betty, Ray, Timmy and Lorene have 4 ssi checks going into that house. The house and land is paid for and the food/clothes are supplied by the community so WHERE does all that monthly income go? This has been going on for a lot longer than Mark been involved

Marks intentions were pure. Tyler’s seems ill intent. Exploiting them to make himself look better. Mark didn’t want to change their life he just wanted to add value to their way of living that they were used to. $150, 000 doesn’t go too far when you get trucks and 4 wheelers and appliances like they did. I have the utmost respect for Mark.

So Tyler talked trash without really knowing anything and then found out what a bad situation Mark was in and now he’s mad that he got himself in the same situation. Now he wants Mark to go halvsies with him. Tyler sounds like an absolute baboon. I’m glad Mark said he can handle the problem he caused.

15 mins in. Tyler is doing himself no favours. He's really, really unlikeable. He admits he went to search out the Whittakers for his own self interest. He didn't do his due diligence with the actual story. He talks like a sleazy board room executive covering up sleazy backroom deals.

This is going to sound harsh, but I speak from some similar experience. Firstly, they don’t need a new home. They won’t care for it and they’ll destroy it until it looks like their current home. Secondly, and more importantly, you cannot ever give people like this money. You have to pay directly for the thing for them. The money will always go missing. When I still had contact with my mom we had to go buy the gas for her car for her. Otherwise she’d be right back asking for gas money again bc she used it for something else. Rinse and repeat with everything. Anyway, as much as we want to help some people we can’t. In turn we end up exhausting resources and energy; wasting it on people who don’t appreciate it and use it for what it’s intended for.

Edited to add: the mom/grandma/whoever she is, absolutely knows where the money is going and why. Her refusal to talk about it is more of an admission than anything.

I don’t think Tyler had good intentions going into this simply because he has no idea how to deal with people with mental illnesses, physical disabilities, poverty and substance abuse. He only apologised because he wants Mark to fund the modular home and come out of it looking like a hero who solved the problem. A problem he created in the first place.
