All New Kindle (2019) Review

Amazon has launched a new iteration of its entry-level Kindle device. Amazon is calling it the "All-new Kindle" which isn't very useful when trying to distinguish this model from the previous ones. Kindle (2019) is probably the best name, however it is also know as the Kindle 9 or oddly enough the 10th Generation Kindle! Here is my full review.

I really like the dedicated buttons for page skipping on my old Kindle. It just feels much more natural to me.

I have a 5th generation Kindle and love it. I won't part with it. I had my mom staying with me recently and she is into paperbacks. I let her use my son's Kindle Fire to read a book together with me and she is hooked. She really likes how she can adjust the print (she's 73). She is not tech savvy and the Fire has a lot of features she does not use. She really liked my e-reader because it is simple. Thank you for a great review. I'm going to get her one of these for Christmas.

The most underrated channel. Though we all know Gary from other channel. Always the top notch geek ❤️

I liked the physical page turning buttons.

I have first generation Kindle (now used by my wife) and a Paperwhite. Generally I far prefer the Paperwhite although the older mechanical page turning of the Kindle is much more accurate in use.
I prefer, for study, to use the Kindle app of my iPad. Adding notes and different colours for highlighting is really useful. The ability to transfer notes and highlights into my Evernote is brilliant. I far prefer to read books on Kindles and iPad than as a physical book simply because of the facility to export the notes to my Evernote. PDFs can be transferred to your Kindle and are ‘immediately’ indexed. So I can create my own PDFs and then have a full indexed search facility. A great tool.

I just purchased this one. Really worth it and gets the job done. The ppi is not an issue for normal books at least .I haven't tasted manga or PDF.

I have a Kindle, 2015 paperwhite & I will never be without one. I'd like to add how fabulous they are for those of us with painful hands {RA} or other health issues. I can't hold real books anymore but I can prop my Kindle on my legs/lap/cushion & tap to turn. Since I got my first keyboard kindle years ago I've actually read more than ever. It goes with me to apts etc too as it's so small & light.

@5:00 Oasis model you don't get: larger screen, anti-reflective glass, more ergonomic one-handed design, physical page turn buttons, premium materials and more backlight LEDs for more even light distribution. Did I miss anything else folks? I bought one for 25% off by trading in an old beater kindle I purchased for very little money 25% off the $250 plus another $15 for the beater kindle... paid about $170 and made the Oasis more stomach-able and I greatly enjoy the larger screen that's more scratch resistant than the 2019 kindle paper white being that it's matte glass and NOT matte plastic.

I bought the basic kindle, having finally decided to treat myself to an upgrade from my trusty (still going strong) 4th Gen. I opted for the White Model (no fingerprints) and an OEM fabric case.
Mine arrived today and I spent an hour, or so, setting it up.
BTW, it's the 11/2/2022 and Amazon are selling them without ads for £59.99
I adjusted to the loss of physical buttons very quickly and found navigation to be a breeze.
My only real gripe was that, for some reason, after signing in, my categories (which I find very helpful, in terms of organization) didn't transfer and I had to delete them on the site, recreate them on the device, add a couple of books, then they magically appeared on the site, where, it was much easier to populate them quickly and then they reappeared on the Kindle.
Bit of a workaround, but it worked!
I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in and am chuffed to bits with my purchase.
Somehow though, I can't see this generation lasting the next 11 years! 😉📚

I've just bought the Paper White instead of the basic Kindle for the water resistance and increase in storage. I don't exactly regret it, but I think you're right that most people would do fine to get the basic model. They're both good devices and good deals, imo. My eyes are really appreciating the e-ink display.

I bought an OG kindle with the buttons in 2013, but the battery has been shot for a year or so. Your video made me remember how much I love my kindle. I have the case that has a little LED light in the top that pops out. I just opened it up and ordered a new battery for $9. I like the buttons for turning pages, and if I put it in a ziplock bag I can read in the tub :)
Thanks!

I was mostly doing most of my reading on a Kindle Fire tablet. I bought the new HD 8 and sent it right back as it's not a great tablet. Very slow and not super sensitive to touch. I'm actually liking this 10th Generation Kindle e-reader.

I have many eReader's. Nooks, Kindles, LikeBook's, Sony's and countless other lesser know eReaders. Each one has it's own charms. But the one thing I don't like is the flush screens. They're fingerprint magnets and the plastic used on the screens is too soft and gathers fine scratches. I'm comfortable with a bezel. While I'm generally happy with the LikeBook Mars I am partial to the Nook Glowlight 3 format. You have to love those page turn buttons. Just my opinion.

It really is just a fantastic E Reader. No regrets with my purchase. I love it.

Besides the fact that all of Dostoyevsky is free on Amazon, you can always download Calibre and convert any format to mobi, hence never paying for an ebook again. The kindle is really amazing. ( if I wasn’t broke and had space I’d definitely set up a little physical library, paper is just better)

Great review!

But I think Oasis is a great device. Better resolution, screen size and buttons to turn page.

The Paper White IMO is the best all round kindle, sharp lettering, good for maps, compact, night light, waterproof, worth the small premium over the basic model.

Just recently got a new Kindle reader, after the old one's screen cracked. The new is more difficult to read in sunlight, because it's not as matte as the old one. Also, tyr reading is better when a little light is used, which ruins the battery life, something that wasn't a problem with the old one.

I have a 2019 kindle spreader and a book and I prefer my nook. Clearer pic and adjustable tone of light on my Nook and the kindle is not always responsive or too responsive. I like buttons for page turning too....and the choice of screen page swishing too.
