I can second AA Juicery. I ate there several times, and everything I had was really awesome (and vegan).

What a brilliant young lady, love your hair. Ubud sounds bad for my wife though as she has COPD, the humidity and mountains would be too hard for her. Great information.

You've really inspired me to come and experience Bali, I do feel this inner drive to heal and grow more! I'm in Hilo right now but Bali is for sure next. Is there a specific month you'd recommend that's best for weather and low pricing?

Your first recommendation about getting a Balinese SIM on arrival—is that a good idea? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that preclude me from texting and calling internationally, in other words back home? Or at least to the US, or at least in the US to Verizon customers?

The people who say "yawn", my dear, are just jealous!... You are absolutely stunning & charming & lovely, & seem to exude a natural aura of peace & inner enlightenment that comes from, not only your pure-living... but probably from spiritual attainment from past lives! You remind me of my beautiful daughter, who shaved her head completely when she was 19 or 20 & was dancing ballet in New York. I think all the emphasis on competition & outer beauty & perfection in the ballet world drove her a little nutty & so she became a renunciate... of her hair anyway. That was more about 20 years ago & she teaches Yoga now & lives in the mountains & swore off L.A. Topanga is like a refuge from L.A. & there is a little Vegan restaurant called The Inn of The 7th Ray that I worked in my early 20's when I was experimenting with Communes & New Age religions. My daughter worked there 30 years later! When & if I get back to Bali I am so grateful for all the great food places you have mentioned. Food can kill ... or it can heal! So... Thank YOU!!! <3 My husband has been a vegetarian since he was 20 & he is now 65 & he is aging very well... I am less disciplined. May you have a long & healthy life, my dear, & find a man who will commit... My experience is that "New Age" types of men seem to have difficulty in that area... though my own hubby was Hare Krishna for many years living in- community in Florid & West Virginia. And he is ever-faithful... Praise God! And also a GREAT vegetarian chef! He cooked for the Hare Krishna community for a great part of his adult life. I grew up in Djakarta & feel conflicted about the Western (too often decadent & ill-mannered) influence on the Island of Bali... but I think the Balinese have reconciled themselves to the tourists & even the long-term ex-pats & 'snow-birds' from various European, Australian & American countries. It's a curious mix for sure! I just wish Westerners would try to learn the Traditional dance a bit more since they can do other forms anytime in the place they're from. When in Rome do as the Romans do & make the effort to learn a native skill... like cooking Nasi Goreng or weaving an offering to the Hindu Gods... or even taking a music lesson from a Balinese Master... or Dance Master. I miss the Javanese & Balinese dance the most. I studied as a child with a master in my neighborhood on his wide outdoor garden patio. I always felt like the awkward/ugly white duckling next to the slim agile, & nimble Indonesian girls. Their graceful hands fluttered & easily flexed into half-moons, while my hands strained at the effort. But like ballet here... they start very young & I was 12 & a bit late. Sigh! Still, I miss Paradise & all its contradictions!!! Ciao! ~Tara (using my husband's ID)
