Its amazing how this guy hasnt had an arm injury yet. More people should imitate his mechanics.

Literally I have never played organized baseball and after watching all of your videos I’m 100% sure I would be a competent pitcher at some amateur level. Learning so much about throwing mechanics I might signup for one of those adult rec leagues 😂

His rear thigh is almost parallel to the ground when he hip hinges. Not to many pitchers have the strength to get into that position. Chapman creates crazy elite level separation.

You left out the fact that he has such tremendous arm speed from fully torqued to ball release, which is much faster than most other pitchers. Add his very long arms to that and you get 100+mph heat.

His mechanics are proof that the reason there are so many elbow blow outs is because the guys throwing 100 are using all arm. Chapman has been throwing 100 for years and he uses his whole body to do it. Nolan Ryan was another good example.

What video editing software do you use? Excellent analysis and very easy to follow.

OK let me present a new twist an outlier. I had an excellent fast ball as a high school kid. I had an accident involving my pitching arm and couldn't get good velo back. So I gave up baseball and went to tennis. I studied the serve motion in relation to pitching motion and notice a lot of similarities. So after less than one year at tennis I go out and make the tennis team no. 6 at 4 year university. I'm just that good! This is back in late 70s. To this day I can hit a 1st serve somewhere 110-120mph. I play recreational and the young guys college and HS players get totally challenged against it. Now in between I quit tennis and played in a high caliber adult baseball league in LA. I threw in the 70mph but knew how to spot pitches and had a good curve to fool guys. I actually led the league in hitting at mid season because of course tennis as contact is essential but I could go deep here and there. I've always wondered how come I could still serve so fast as an old fuck but if I broke 70 MPH with a baseball I'd be thrilled. I'm a freak of nature.😂

I know this is an old video. But I’ve always been taught to push off with my back leg and drive down the mound with it(20+ years of misinformed coaching) Which I now know made my mechanics more linear than rotational, leaving a lot on the table. Any tips or ques to help correct this? What’s the proper sequencing to shoot for? Foot plant-pelvic rotation-trunk rotation-arm delivery?

Good video. I just wish these instructional videos would show the full pitch in slow motion at least once, and then you can go back and break down what he’s doing.

Is your drive leg pushing against the rubber so you are pushing forward towards the catcher or are you just letting gravity push you down?

Does anybody know of using such a kinematic sequence of a baseball pitch for a golf swing? Notice how late the throwing arm comes up in the pitching sequence — just before he plants his lead foot.

The typical pro golf swing has the arms and the club come up very early in the sequence, which no baseball pitcher does.

Would U say he’s a driver or an accelerator?

Hey I’m 13, 14 in April and I’m throwing 68-70 from 60, 6 but this upcoming weekend will be my third time throwing from 60, 6 and my bicep always seems to hurt I want to say it’s because I didn’t really throw like I should’ve for almost 2 years because of covid and I can’t go for longer than 2 innings without my arm starting to hurt is it just because I’m not used to pitching from 60, 6 or what’s going on?
