I like the way some of the other orchestras create swells. But when I listen to this it's so much clearer. You can hear the base. You can hear all of the lines of counterpoint. It's a real joy.

Celibidache had something. extra. There were many great conductors, technically and musically outstanding, and there are as many recordings of the Mass in B. However, under Celibidache the same score becomes alive, the music breathes, the emotions are underlined by the music in a new way, the libretto and the music become alive and tridimensional. I am ending my hearing of the excellent youtube recording uploaded by the 1furtwangler channel, and I have to confess that it seems to me that somehow I have heard the mass in B for the first time. Under Celibidache the work becomes alive, breathes, becomes obvious in meaning and overpowering in beauty. Many thanks for posting.

Once you have heard Celibidache is very difficult to come back to hear soloists o little ensembles.

As a singer, I put it down in the simplest way possible.
Even in this amazing counterpoint, the phrasing is so clear, so evident, both in the single parts and in the whole ... Why do you break it all the time, because of these tempi, unbearable to the natural flowing of the breathe? Follow the text! Follow the melodic line! Follow harmony, above all! It's so simple, so obvious!
And then: why does one hear only the Subject? Why always and exclusively mark the Subject, even when the other parts are just as important, and sometimes even more important than the Subject itself?
