I remember when I first heard this song, it was my sophomore year of highschool. I was in marching band and we were on our way to play at a competition and my friend would always let me listen to his music on the bus trips and this song came on and it was just a perfect day...the sun was out and the bus window was open we could feel the wind hit our face while we jammed to this song. It was a good time. Marching band days were the best days I’ve had. This song brought me to tears it brought back happy memories, it’s true you don’t know what you have until it’s gone .. I wish I was as happy now as I was during that time...I haven’t heard this song in 5 years until now

Thanks for the lyrics.  Just discovered this band a couple weeks ago.  Dig them.  I love these lyrics, but am confused by them.  It's a break-up song, I gather.  The heart/mind chorus, is that being said to herself (like an affirmation:  stay strong and break up with him), or describing what's wrong with the guy (he doesn't get out of his head and open his heart)?  Or both?
