I agree 100% with you on the Epic's brain being terrible. I had a 2014 Epic World Cup and the shock and fork lockout systems always performed a bit poorly. I thought this problem was solved with the 2019 model but the internet is full of stories like yours and I'm just thinking about buying a Scott Spark right now.

I have both. But when I'm doing a trail that has climbs and some kickers. I'll take the hard tail. Now if it's a dh trail then full suspension I'll take.

On rough technical climbs I find a full suspension can deal with it better, but obviously slower on smoother fire road climbs

Hi Durian,

I saw you posted someone breaking their neck on instagram while mountain biking. Any tips on avoiding this? I only plan to do XC and not any BMX style stunts, will it be a lot safer?

Thanks!
Ting

I’m mostly vegan for all intense and purposes. Ride a Trek Slash 9.8, with a coil shock. The DVO Jade x coil is ridiculously stiff on climbs.

I'm moving to a more rural area in the UK and was trying to decide this exact dilemma 👍🏼. Hardtail it the road bike but wanna go exploring off road

Yeah, that's not a full sus I'd take to a bike park or down knarly downhills or rock gardens. Both are XC bikes and the geo is not very playful. If you want to go fast on flat terrain or make it up some hills faster either of those bike will be fine. Both of those bikes are really in the same category.

Hi, Thanks for the video :) ! For me full suspension is the best. Ok maybe it's a little bit heavy than a Hardtail. But if you drive for a long time and if you have descent in your race you will be faster when you climb with the hardtail but you will be faster with the full in the descent. And your back and your full body will say thank you to you if you take a full suspension. I have the four stroke and it is 12 kilogram in full so not very heavy.

You know youre kinda big when even on a mtb your body position is not much different to the one on a road bike.
