I’ve never heard someone so elegantly yell at me

I love the contrast between her staring daggers at the audience and then her polite "Thank you" at the end.

No one has ever opened a song, ever, harder than this.

She sings like it's the audience that put her in that orphanage.

This girl Allison Smith did over 850 performances of Annie on Broadway at the time she sang this.

The amount of aggression in this is perfect

Man her voice goes hard, I actually love this. "We get tricked" gives me goosebumps every damn time, just the way she belts it out. Beautiful, and powerful for such a tiny human.

That pianist is feeling it. 50 years of anger and disappointment perfectly expressed by a 10 year old

that "WE" echoed through the depths of my soul.

Watched this like a hundred times now. I keep saying "just one more time" and then replay it again right after.

Her voice and vocal control are amazing.

The amount of expression flowing from her eyes and face as she sings perfectly... This is raw unbridled talent

It´s basically 90 seconds of her being a total badass on stage. Cheers to Allison Smith!

Shes a amazing vocalist. That aggression is achieved from being very good at projecting her voice and having amazing control. People like her exist today too, but we will never see them grow in popularity. Like my friend thats in a successful band told me, "shows like american idol an america got talent. The will never show the amazing vocalists/bands, they want mediocre with a story. That way they can crash and burn instead of success, easier to forget about."

My dad took us to see her in Annie in NY. As a young kid, the smells and the sounds of the city and the atmosphere of the show was just magical.

I'm no expert, but this girl has one of the best voices I've ever heard. Every syllable is spot on. That high E (the highest note in the tune) deserves a Nobel Prize. I listen to this over and over just to hear that note and the way her throat just lets it rip.

Instead of treated, we get tricked
Instead of kisses, we get kicked -Charles Strouse on piano there, the genius who wrote all of the music for Annie.
