Thank you for the summary. I'd like to point out one thing. Tao te ching was once the common translation of 道德经, apparently due to the assumption some made assuming the west cannot properly pronounce the d and j sound in mandarin. The correct translation in today's standard should be dao de jing. The d sound in mandarin is neither t nor d sound in English, it is sort of in between. So is j, neither ch nor j in English but in between. Remove the airy sound in t and ch or the woofer sound in pronouncing d and j if you would. I hope I make sense. I have been told by some I usually don't so... lol.

It's kind of amazing how in all my years of chronic fatigue and illness no one every highlighted the virtue of stillness. Western civilization extols the value of keeping busy and being productive and frowns on what it perceives as laziness, or "sloth." I think I am falling head over heels for this philosophy, but I want to be able to understand the Tao Te Ching correctly, with lots of context. Thanks for making this summary!

Many thanks 🙏💕I understood a gatekeeper wrote the Tao Te Ching verses based on Lao Tzu’s teachings as Lao Tzu was leaving the city having declined the Emperor wishing Lao Tzu to take a role in his government as Lao Tzu perceived the emperor wasn’t genuinely caring and compassionate for the people … 🤔
