I would travel 200 years into the future for the release date of half-life 3

Dr. Johnson is like the coolest scientist ever and he watch a lot of movies.

I'd watch the titanic sink and realize that the extra weight from me and the hundreds of other time travelers is what causes the ship to sink.

TARDIS is the best form of time travel.

They did this video to talk about _Edge of Tomorrow_ which they call a time-travel movie, but there is no actual travelling in time, he’s just stuck in a time-spatial-loop.

Is there a director's cut of this where I can actually hear the scientists talk about the faults of the premises and not Hal Rudnick doing his best Stephen Colbert impersonation? Neil DeGrasse Tyson wouldn't take your shit, Rudnick.

The best guests Screen-junkies have had so far.

I would collect a bunch of honest trailers for really bad movies, go back in time, and show them to their respective directors to ensure they never happen. I'd need one for Battlefield Earth and Catwoman, though.

I'm not going backwards.  I'm going forward to Idiocracy so I can be the smartest man on the planet.

DeLorean time travel is not possible because it requires you to move at "precisely 88 miles per hour." Since motion is relative, this can not happen. The moment the flux capacitor is activated, it is already traveling on a rotating Earth, orbiting the sun, circling the Milky Way, expanding into outer space. So you could not reach 88 miles per hour. If you only needed to travel "at least" 88 miles per hour, then you would time-travel the instant the capacitor was activated; however, the Earth would have moved from the time you are traveling to, so you would end up floating in a DeLorean in the vast, cold emptiness of space. Better to make a time machine out of a space ship than a car, because you're going to need it to fly back home.

This is by far 1 of the most entertaining educational screen junkies youtube that I've seen . Keep it up Hal, I enjoyed it I wanna see more of this.

Peter Jackson had nothing to do with the Hobbit splitting into 3 movies. He originally wanted it to be 1. But Warner Bros said "NOT ENOUGH MONEY"

we don't need a bunch of doctor to tell us that movie physics aren't real

That banter/sexual chemistry between Hal and Dr. Johnson in 5:41. Haha! 😂

I wish Hal had asked them about Superman's flying around the world backwards time travel. I would have loved to hear their responses to that.

WOW, the best part of this video was the advertisement that came before it. I usually just press skip right away, but that Lifeboy ad was powerful and pulled at all my heart strings. If it happens to be the add in your video, just watch it to the end. Quite moving.

Here's one fact for everyone!

Time does not really exist. Time is simply the rate of events in comparison to another rate of events. Humanity invented time in order to mark the circuit of the chain of certain events such as the rotation of the earth and the orbit around the sun.

As you move faster the comparative rate of events to others changes accordingly and that gives us the illusion of slowing down "time" when really it is simply the individual or object stepping up the ladder of existence to a faster plane.

Once you hit a certain speed and wavelength certain objects and things become comparatively insignificant and apparently disappear.

Motion is entirely relative to the observer and "time" is entirely based on motion.

Humanity views time and space entirely based on light. To us light speed is the fastest thing in the universe, but indeed there could be another beam of light, or any other object,  moving at comparatively 1, 000, 000 times the speed of light that we would never witness because it is too far beyond us. All matter follows the laws of physics and it has been proven that all things, even energy, has matter, even if it is the tiniest of tiniest portions. This means that Light even has matter and this has been studied and witnessed by scientists. Thusly light must follow inertia this has also been witnessed to some small degree by shining light through different media.

If you were to accelerate to the speed of light, the light around you before-hand would cease to be relevant, but if you were to shine a flash light, then that beam of light would move at the speed of light in comparison to your movement.

We already know about tachyons, particles that move faster than light which are not simply theoretical anymore. We can only observe them when they slow down while moving through a medium.

What has happened has happened. Nothing can travel backwards in "time" because "time" is simply an illusion. We can witness something that happened long ago in the cosmic chain of events because the light from it still exists, but there is no way we'd be able to interact with the actual happening.

I really like listening to Dr. Johnson talk about this stuff, he comes off genuinely interested and repeatable. When I watch someone like Neil deGrasse Tyson I get a sense of condescension. I'm not trying to badmouth the guy, it's just an impression I get, who knows if it's really true.
