I've had my second hand carbon bike for 8 years, bought from a guy who raced it for a team. The only thing that has broken on it is a single spoke after I hit a pothole at 30mph. Just buy from a reputable source, and know what you're looking for when you examine the bike...

I wonder if Martyn Ashton realized you used his video to make a point.

I'm buying an alloy bike off a mate I've trusted over the past two years come this next month. I saw you also recommended this material for its durability as well. I'm exited.

IDC if you train harder, longer than me whatever, it's results that matter, and I can get good results on 8-10 hours of SMART training per week

It's aimed towards people whose whole life is geared towards racing and biking or to whom it's a top priority. Same way you might spend $1000+ on a top graphics card/s because you spend a lot of time gaming whereby the average person might spend only $150

Hey Durianrider can you please do some more cycling tip videos, and do you think it is good idea to get clip-on aero bars...

Unlike metal, carbon doesnt fatigue. As long as it doesnt break it will be as good as the day you got it 200 years from now. The only way you can break it really is in a crash.

Is it a bad idea to buy certain parts used like the saddle and wheels?

So second hand Pinarello Dogmas have been used for what exactly?

Jesterish

The start is false. He had a few bumps and falls on that bike.

I don't see how Martyn Ashton riding on a pinarello dogma is related to a broken scott bike. Please. Enlighten me as to how it's related. It didn't even have anything to do with a broken carbon fibre bike, or why not to buy one second hand. If you ask me, the video is utter bullshit. Why post something like this, when there is no broken bikes from what I can see. The only way you're gonna break a carbon bike is snapping it crashing at a high speed or crushing it with a high amount of pressure.

I'm pretty sure that carbon doesn't accumulate any stress, so if there was no structural damage then this trick bike is fine.

I had mine 2 hand for 6 years and is perfect.and the music in this video is crap

video is kinda pointless, you can do the same tricks on an aluminium bike and sell it as new aswell.
Things you have to check is if the carbon has marks or even worse, cracks, expecially in the sharpest part of the frame.
Apart from that i see no problem in buying an used carbon bike.
glued part can possibly be an issue in carbon frames but glue are supposed to last i would say at least 10 years before they can present any kind of problems.
