I personally tend to lean towards MOA for hunting optics, but I really don't see a difference in the two. They are both angle measurements, pick one, and become familiar with it.

I started on MOA and it still makes more sense, and im south african, we use metric

I usually only use yards when I'm talking to Americans.
Otherwise it's meters.
But who cares, use what you're comfortable with.

I use both but prefer MIL to me it really don’t matter the ballistic programs can take both MOA or MIL into account and give you a firing solution in yards. However If you’re using a BDC turret then I understand. I also utilize my ffp reticle in my scopes I have a ruler right there in front me if I need it.

MILS so much similar and quicker. You can use Mils in yards or meters....duh

I'm in the MOA camp for the same reasons mentioned in the video. Mil isn't metric either. It's simply a measure of an angle.

Both are just angular measurements. I’ve shot both and competed with both but I now use MIL optics but do all my ranging in yards. You don’t have to use meters with mils. The only thing that matters is you have good dope, and you know it/have a reference for it. Mil tends to make more sense and be faster once people get meters out of their head.

However in the case of 99% of optics MOA technically is a finer unit of measurement making it more precise when dialing.

Mils is faster and you can measure yards with mils just like you can with moa. Some people are just stuck in the 80’s lol 😂

Why do inches come in to play at all when talking angular measurements? If we have a good reticle, we all have a ruler in our scope, why the need to convert to inches or yards or meters or whatever? I’m a believer that the sooner someone switches over to mils and learns quick wind, the quicker they’ll advance as a shooter

No other hunters than North Americans? Who’d have thought…?

If anything people for people who "think in inches/feet/yards", MIL is even better because it forces them to stop doing that. Your scope adjusts in angular units, why create more work for yourself? All in all I get why a US gun company would use MOA because people in the US like it but justifying it with anything other than "it sells better" is nonsense.

500 yards 1 MOA 5”. I doest’t get any more simple. You’re 4” high at 800 yards. Your 1/2 MOA high….

The hunting angle is a cop out. As hunters we're "shooters". What allows the user to make the best shot in the largest variety of conditions? It's Mils. Go to the best national level rifle matches and ask around to see what the majority of guys are using. The answer means something.
