Ghost? Glare? Arizona trucker shares footage of chilling sighting

A truck driver passing through Arizona says his dash cam appears to have caught what looks like a ghost – but of course, that's unconfirmed.

William Church said he was driving on SR 87 around 2:30 a.m. on March 11 when he passed by a transparent figure standing on the side of the road.

Church says he was between Phoenix and Payson with no cars in sight.

He described the figure as "just standing in the roadway as I passed by looks like you can see the lines through the legs making the figure."

SR 87 has seen its fair share of deadly car crashes as it's one of the state's main highways to get to and from mountain communities.

One time, I was driving at night on the highway and nothing happened. It was great. I got home in record time!

When I worked 3-11 shift in Sierra Vista AZ and had to drive a narrow 2 lane road back to Benson AZ one particular curve frightened me. I had received bad radial keratotomy and my eyes were scarred. There were no reflectors at the curve to help me tell where exactly to turn to stay on the pitch dark pavement so as not to go off the mountain no matter how much I slowed down. I prayed every trip God help me get home safe and past this curve. Every time in my opinion he sent an angel that looked like a mist just enough to let me know to turn to stay on the road. That highway has since been 4 laned. God is good.

Well I wasn't in a vehicle, I was actually in my house. I had opened my front door to go to the mailbox and as I did, I saw a guy from my neighborhood, whom I'd lived near for 20 years, Pete, walking down the street. He was looking at the construction going on a couple of houses over. He waved to me, I waved to him, then later that day my daughter asked if I had heard that Pete died. I said "oh wow I just saw him earlier today, what happened??" thinking maybe he'd just had a heart attack. she said "Mom no, he died like three months ago." sure enough I looked up the obit - he'd been long dead.

I would get up early in the morning and walk before going to work. One morning, it was a little after 5 in the morning and still dark outside. I turned my head and saw a woman walking on the other side of the road in the opposite direction. She was wearing a long almost velvet coat and looked over in my direction. It had a demonic looking face and grin. I was so shocked I gasped and looked down . When I looked again a few seconds later it was gone. Vanished. Scares me to this day.

I remember that night. My car broke down and I needed help but that trucker went by so fast. I had to walk 5 miles. 😢

This stretch of roadway both north to Payson and south to Tucson is incredibly creepy especially at night. One of the cases we worked that’s documented in our book, was from the route going south to Tucson where he claimed to have picked up a hitchhiker whose name matched someone who went missing back in the 70’s 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had a similar experience to this once but with a twist. Was on a rural mountain highway in Northern California, saw a deer from the corner of my eye running out of the woods to my right, I braked, it jumped into the road about 20 feet in front of me and as soon as it fully hit the headlights it dematerialized. I was certain I must have hit it, even went back to look, got out for a minute looking around, absolutely nothing there

Seen a ghost standing next to a small drainage bridge. We investigated any accidents in that area when we got home and a guy died in a car accident a day before at that location. The picture in the paper showed the guy in a red shirt and blue jeans. When we saw the apparition it had red shirt and blue pants. Real freaky

this happened about 18 years ago when i was around 11, it was getting late and i came back to my house and i saw this stranger standing in middle of our room. i said hello? he looked at me and was horrified to see me and started moving away to the other room. He was walking fast and i was following him. He entered this room which had no other door or any windows which was used as storage for suitcases and other small stuff. I entered the room and there was nobody. I looked for hours until I realised what it really was.

Before my sister died in a car accident, she said she witnessed a woman dressed in transparent veils run across the road as she was coming home late one night. My sister was a drinker, but she swore she had not been drinking that night.

I read the article for this because it reminds me of an incident I had on an old highway here. I had taken my mom to the airport and it was about 4 something in the morning on my way back. I was going 55 and this transparent figure (very much like this one) started walking in the road. It got about to the yellow line dividing the lanes and I swerved but as I was next to it it had comepletely disappeared. Edit: my experience was on Old Nogales Highway in Southern AZ. If anyone else has experiences on this road I would love to hear them. Edited again: I finally stopped on the side of the road where I saw the figure and there were three crosses. I visited them, next time I’ll bring flowers

I was driving from Fr Riley Kansas to Ft Sill Oklahoma . It was early evening and I saw what looked like a man hobbling across the road..he looked injured so I slowed down to see if he needed help. As I slowed down I could only see half of him....the right side of him...the rest wasn't there....but it continued moving like it was injured into an open field.. I watched for maybe 20 seconds in confusion until I thought....Nope...thats not a person....or...it was a person. I was never so exited to get to Ft Sill.

What we do know is that, at 0:19 it is tangible enough to prevent illumination of the "dots" at the side of the road in the given place. That blocking effect is maintained in part still by 0:22, but by 0:23 some dots can be seen thruogh it, and by 0:24 basically all the dots can be seen through it. Th efact that there is some kind of a sign by the road at that point would not seem to be coincidental.

What makes this especially freaky is when you freeze frame as the figure comes into view, the white solid shoulder line cuts through the object like it's not even there. 😳

Commercial vehicles have a lot of mirrors and get a lot of strange reflections from them.

The problem is this. Due to modern technology no sighting will ever be believed unless you are there in person. It's interesting to discuss but that's about it.

John I had a similar experience. I was driving from Fort Stewart in Georgia, heading to Atlanta. I was doing 80 mph and the car in the lane left of me was doing about 78. As I was driving a blue pick up truck came straight across the highway, I could see the driver, he wore a cap and was just casually looking in front of him. I didn't slow down and neither did the car to my left. I was driving on the far right lane, and there was no cars in the far left lane. When the truck came straight across in front of us, and I could see like a bumper type thing seemly keeping my car and the other car at a certain speed. I was surprised that I didn't panic, my eyes simply followed the truck, I was in the slow lane, so the only place the truck could go was into the trees and shrubbery next to the highway, as my eyes followed the truck, I saw the truck pull into a shopping mall, I also saw a McDonald arch. The truck and mall disappeared and the trees and shrubbery was back. I think what I witnessed was a merging of 2 dimensions, for just a brief moment. I will never forget it

Something very strange but the opposite to this happened to me when I was driving at night on a rural English road in 2001. The black figure of what seemed to be a man ran out into the road in front of my car, yet somehow remained a completely black silhouette despite being no more than 15 feet in front of my car, right in the middle of my full-beam headlights. It was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen, the way the lights brightly illuminated everything else around it yet it somehow completely swallowed the light as it moved across the road in front of me before disappearing into a thick hedgerow that'd be impossible to even slowly climb through let alone run through.
