“Okay drummer, we need this track to sound different than the main one and Rage’s. Show us what you can do to accommodate that request.”
Drummer: *bangs random drums and cymbals for 3-4 minutes*
“Perfect!”

Everyone: "I felt bad for Scream after killing her brother."
Me: *viciously torments a mentally ill woman as some sort of deranged predator worse than Mihaly "2longdidn'tread" Shilage*

Her voice acting here was genuinely moving. I actually felt bad for killing her brother. Her emotions make this section much more powerful than when killing her first.

Drummer: Ok what’s the next song?
Composer: Scream
Drummer: And what’s the song called?
Composer: Uh...
Drummer: Say no more, fam.

At first, I thought something was seriously wrong with the music when I heard this ingame, like it glitched out or something. Then I realized: that was the point. Rage's version still maintains its rhythm because he's got a cooler head on his shoulders, and despite his well, rage, after Scream dies first, he retains his focus. Scream, on the other hand, *completely falls apart* if Rage dies first, and her version of the song really reflects that.

Man, I felt so bad for Scream, even more than for Rage. Hell, I felt dirty for taking Rage from her. She went from a gleeful murderous psychopath to a terrified little girl who just lost her brother, who was probably the only person who ever truly loved and looked out for her. I really gotta give props to her VA, too, 'cause it would've been so easy to fuck up and either go way over the top to the point of absurdity, but she sold her despair PERFECTLY. I really wish we could've learned more about them...

As a drummer, I actually find listening to this version relaxing.
There's something uniquely wonderful about "Jazz wail" solos, and it applies to Drumming as well. Following the staggered haphazard beats is like walking in a storm, you're getting assaulted by rain but it can feel nice, even if you wouldn't describe "walking around in soaked clothes" as nice.

Yeah, you can definitely tell this is about Scream. Hell of a lot more chaotic

Guy: ok I need you to represent scream’s mental breakdown with the beat ok?
Drummer: *haves stroke on drums*
Guy: perfection

It's like someone told four musicians to play the most wild solo that they could and then they played all four over each other at the same time.

In the comments, everyone's saying how bad they felt for Scream.

In canon, however, Trigger downed these two without so much as a second thought, or even a single word of acknowledgement. Rage's fury and determination over his sister's death in the end meant as little as her unstable emotions over his death against Trigger, who stayed one step ahead. Cold and unyielding.

Who would send a couple of crazy kids like Mimic Squadron after an apex predator like Trigger?

Something always struck me odd about Scream, and its this following line:

"Rage is going to Heaven...and I'm going to burn in Hell all alone..."

Why? Because it almost seemed out of character-Scream is a gal who relishes in the carnage, who loves blowing shit up and knocking enemies out of the sky. She was practically gleeful when she and Rage went up against Trigger in Unexpected visitor. Her mentioning something like Heaven and Hell (to say nothing of saying her brother is going to heaven) seems so...out of character for her. Almost childish even.

But then I started to think of it in her perspective: She ALWAYS followed Rage's lead. When he said they were going in, she dove in with him. When it was time to pull out, she retreated. She only snapped at him once, and that was because he called her an "idiot" something that, as demonstrated by Clemens, is apparently a sore spot for her anyways. But her brother, she never once hesitated to listen to. She trusted him to lead them through, even when going against nightmare aces like Three Strikes. But that's not the end of it. She didn't just trust him--in the quote above, she said *Rage* is the one going to heaven, and she condemns herself (and Trigger, through the next line after the quote) as being doomed for hell. She saw him as a good person, possibly even the only thing in the crazy, messed up world, to be *truly* good, from her perspective.

She absolutely *adored* her brother.

And then you killed him. Suddenly, I don't blame her at all for hating Trigger to the end. It's not that Trigger is a bad person, he was defending himself after all, but to Scream, he just destroyed the last bit of goodness in her world. Who wouldn't lose their mind?

Everything about this version of the track oozes fear and utter confusion. I can feel what the experience in Scream’s cockpit is like:

The missile warning system is 20x louder now. Even before Trigger shoots at her, the plane feels like it’s going to shake itself apart. She just heard Rage die and now she’s suddenly lost in the sky with enemies all around and no way out. She doesn’t know what to do. She’s flying and shooting in random directions and praying that monster just leaves her alone. It’s as if it’s breathing down her neck as she’s violently jerks the controls trying to get away from Trigger. She doesn’t know what to do and wishes Rage would tell her. All she wanted to do was be a hero and look where it got her.

She doesn’t know what to do.

Ok let’s just face the fact the scream is mentally unstable around her brother and then becomes more mentally unstable when he’s dead.

And we all felt bad that she “somewhat” wanted to die.

The first time I've played the mission I shot down Rage first...
I felt terrible because I was feeling scream's pain and I knew I've took everything she had by killing her brother

The soundtrack to mental illness is apparently experimental jazz fusion
