What a nifty little gadget this small pocket printer is. And a great way to add a personal touch to your cards, gifts, planners, etc. My only question would be is how long the printed images last ... in the past, I have found that thermal images will fade over time. Do these images last a fair amount of time?

The Phomemo M2 is advertised as a craft photo printer, bur frankly I found the 200 DPI too low to do decent photos. The quality of photos it does is similar to first generation B/W photo iD cards. I myself use mine strictly as a mobile label printer for envelops and other packages. I force print labels sideways to make large address to labels and revert text to normal top down format to print the From labels.

My only beef about using it in this manner is when printing it sideways, it tends to spit out double the length of the printed portion. Meaning if the actual printed label only takes up 3" long, the spit out portion is easily 6-7" long. So it forces me to open it up and roll back all the excess it spit out. A bit annoying especially if I have no work surface to use and am doing this on the go.

Besides their own line of papers and sticker paper, I found using Thermo cash register replacement rolls work just as well. Just make sure the roll is no wider than 53mm width if you're using the plastic internal guide, or 57mm without the guides. The guide not only aligns the paper with the print head it also tensions the paper so it won't unspool while inside the printer.

This is nice, but my concern with a thermal device is that the print will eventually fade to nothing, just like thermal receipts.

Thermal paper fades in about 3 years time, less if left out in sunlight or bound tightly in a book. Don't use for anything you want to save permanently.
