I loved living in Uptown! Tons of live music venues, a HUGE beach with paddleboarding & birdwatching, diverse community, awesome food options

I’ve been living within Chicago city limits for well over 20 years; take this video with a huge grain of salt, because what you don’t know about Chicago neighborhoods CAN and WILL hurt you.

Yesss, I lived in Uptown for like 6-7 years so I have a special place in my heart for it. Just be mindful of the scary pockets lol

Rogers Park is transit rich close to the lake with easy EXPRESS access to downtown Chicago and Evanston. Loyola AND northwestern sandwich the neighborhood It is ridiculously undervalued.

I grew up in Evanston and have lived in the Chicago area for 50+ years. You forgot my favorite neighborhood where I lived for 16 years - Edgewater! I could write several paragraphs here, so I will leave it to your viewers to PLEASE explore this amazing area within walking distance of Loyola University, the Lake, awesome public transportation, diverse population and restaurants.

Avondale. Hermosa. Portage Park. Belmont Cragin. All great and underrated Northwest side neighborhoods. Don’t think Uptown is necessarily underrated just a bit sketchy still. People are cautious. Can’t blame them. Old Irving has actually been on the radar for many but might be getting a bit too late to buy some real estate as the prices have been skyrocketing the past few years for its proximity to Lakeview. Good picks though.

OK, this was a really good video, but Humboldt Park is a shit hole… the park itself is beautiful, but the fact that it’s basically the seat for the Latin kings will always make it hell on earth

I IMMEDIATELY went straight to the comments because that's where you learn the truth from REAL Chicagoans

I think this is a fine video, but I don’t know if it’s fair to call Uptown and Roger’s Park underrated. If you want to do the whole North/South/West neighborhood thing, I think the more underrated neighborhood would be:
McKinley Park in the south - right by orange line, Chinatown, and large park
Bucktown in the west - it’s where all the early white collar families are headed
And Lincoln Square - more diverse housing stock and has its own central business/community area along Lincoln

I'm a second-generation Chicagoan who grew up on the Southside and moved to Uptown a year ago. LOVE the neighborhood right on the lake beaches, in between Andersonville and Boystown, and full of culture. I'm Puerto Rican, but I still wouldn't live in Humboldt Park as it gets better and worse at the same time.

Hyde Park is a jewel. U of Chicago, Museum of Science and Industry, restaurants, architecture. Bronzeville the home of world renowned Illinois Institute of Technology and minutes from the home of the white Sox..

Absolutely none of these neighborhoods are underrated.

If you know you know.

Rogers Park is incredibly dirty. And dangerous at night as well. I lived there. Glad I don’t anymore.

I only agree about Bronzeville and Old Irving Park. The other places are not the best.
