Six decades-long
it’s been home to
ground breakers,
change-makers,
planet shakers -
and it’s still going strong…

It’s the home of forward-thinking higher learning,
afro-centric pride & a story still unfurling,
independent thought that sparks innovation,
mindful, global citizens & their perpetual liberation.

Today, it’s my home, my springboard, my zone.
like iron sharpening iron,
here, my potential’s being mined as my mind is refined,
and my future: redefined.

You see, it’s our time…
to learn from our histories,
to never repeat their miseries…
to be the leaders of tomorrow’s victories,
the heralds of her epiphanies.

It’s our time…
to stand up and find our stride -
taking Africa and all the world with us
as we rise.
