Welcome! Today's video is a review of HobbyMaster's A-1H in VA-176's colors, circa 1966 during their cruise on the USS Intrepid.
During that tour VA-176 chalked up 1 confirmed and several probable MiG kills, with one probable credited to LT JG Peter Russel while flying "Papoose 412". We'll cover some history on the US Navy's Skyraider & HobbyMaster's rendition of it. If you like my collection videos, consider subscribing so you'll be notified when I upload my newest video. Thanks for watching!

Model number is HA2917.

Nice video and model. You're much braver than I attempting weathering on it! I'm mixed on my feelings about manus weathering their models or not. It does add another step to the finishing process for them and therefore time and cost to them. But I like a couple of models purchased with weathering. Cailbre Wings did a nice job on their Tomcat I have. And the recent JC Wings EA-6 Prowler is amazingly weathered. I do own the previous VA-176 release. I got it second hand with no box awhile ago. The model is a survivor of Hurricane Sandy so it has been naturally weathered!

Something like a light panel wash might be OK for the manufacturer to do (though I'm generally against it), but things like exhaust & gunsmoke stains should absolutely be left to the collector as I have yet to see a manufacturer do such things well (or rather to my liking).
When I do weathering, I like to use artist pencils as they're easier to wash off if I mess up.
