Anne Hathaway - Gender and the Big Picture | SDG Action Zone | #UNGA
Показать описание
Anne Hathaway, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, at the opening session of the SDG Action Zone entitled "The Big Picture".
Across many dimensions, COVID-19 has dealt a massive setback to gender equality – impacting the way women live, work, and contribute to communities at large. From gender-based violence to stunted participation in the workforce, these setbacks need to be urgently addressed. The opening panel will set the stage of where we stand with respect to gender equality, and hint at the transformative solutions that will push this agenda forward. Nodding to the intergenerational transition at hand, the conversation will feature voices from different waves of feminism – the movements happening now, as well as those 25 years ago. Making gender equality a reality will require changing mindsets, discriminatory policies, and power structures – opening space so women can lead on the world’s big solutions.
Anne Hathaway - Academy Award-winning performer and producer, and long-standing supporter of girls’ and women’s rights, Anne Hathaway has been a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador since June 2016. In this role, she works to foster more positive mindsets and practical arrangements around workplaces that build and support equality for women, raising awareness of the issue of unequal burden of caregiving work in the home and advocating for affordable childcare services and shared parental leave. In addition, she serves on the advisory board for Lollipop Theater Network, an organization that screens movies in hospitals for pediatric patients suffering from chronic or life-threatening illness.
