We have moved from fair-skined Indians dominating Bollywood to even fairer mixed-race Indians dominating it to full Europeans dominating....what a joke lol

This girl is crazy. How can she not feel like she was chosen for her skin color. She's pretty, but have no language experience when she made her first movie, still not fluent in the language, not culture experience, nothing but light skin and a pretty face when there are tons of darker Tamil girls who could have performed better simply because they knew the language and how a real Tamil girl would act in that situation

thats cute. its always the fair ones that clam that race or color has nothing to do with anything.

This is the first time I've heard of her, I'm happy for her success but it does show that the fact that Indian cinema choose Europeans who doesn't speak the language to act in their movies/series when there are millions of women in India who could do the job show that it's about colour. I would think the good thing to do would be to show all variety of Indian people in their movies.

Yes skin colour is a huge factor, she is light skin and she is playing in South Indian movie where most girls are dark skin. It's a huge deal because they can't hire a dark skin girl to be a female lead. They would rather cross countries to get a lighter skinned girl in Briton to star

Please.... As if she isn't there to fit the ideal of what the perfect "Indian" should look like..
If they are portraying "Indians" in film, they should be hiring Indians for Indian roles.

A white woman from Liverpool has more of a chance of making it big in Bollywood than the majority of women in India. That's crazy. Bollywood is losing its uniqueness by doing this kind of stuff.

As Angelique Coke said in below comments:

People don't hate her. People see her as just another privileged fair person. They hate the system that they have no control over. in India, fair people have an advantage over those with darker skin color and it is significantly harder for darker people to advance in society even with the same qualifications as fairer skinned people. It's not the oppressed majority that are the racist ones. It's the institutions and the fair people that refuse to acknowledge their privileged that pisses people off and allows the cycle to continue. And when people speak out or try to shine the light on the situation, there demeaned, belittled, told that their jealous haters, or ignored altogether. They're told that they can advance if they just tried as hard as the fair ones- and that's simply not the case. Heck- I've even heard a fair white man say that the dark people are the racist ones for not supporting and being proud of their system.

Wow the amount of negative comments is disgusting and shows the lack of education British people have? Dispite having so many Indians living in the UK seems to make no difference. She works hard, and she appreciates another culture. Like she says cinema has no barriers. She unlike other foreign actresses just show off their body. If Hollywood is having diversity why can't Bollywood? Grow up and learn to live in the current century British folk.
