Meet the new Yaris. Toyota has gone back to the model's roots and created a car that's good looking, has a great interior and has a USP compared to other superminis. The new Yaris is hybrid-only (apart from the GR Yaris, but that's a completely different car) and only comes as a five-door.

But should you be considering one if you're looking for a supermini? Let me show you around the car and tell you what I like and what I don't.

900 miles so far and averaged 68 mpg. On a 20 mile short run when I switched Od that journey was 84 mpg ! This is our 4th Yaris and this hands down the best one they have made, personalised number plate on order from the DVLA and intend to keep this car for a very very long time. 😊

The new Yaris is definitely a bit of an eye catcher; possibly soon to be a bit with both grandma Florence and young adults alike. Fantastic video James. Great camera work and presenting.

Two things;

You didn't take it on the motorway where many reviewers complain about excessive wind noise and tyre roar - it would have been good to hear your in report in this connection...

As for mpg, dashboard read‐outs are unreliable so I wonder what the percentage inaccuracy is in this respect.

I love the look of it, but I can't help but feel they just copied the side profile of the Mazda2... I know Toyota and Mazda have a partnership because the American Scion iA was just a Mazda2 and this looks like a bit of recycling being done to me here.
