Eleni Kounalakis, California's lieutenant governor, announced Monday she is officially launching her campaign for governor in 2026. “My family & I owe everything to our state. I will fight fiercely to make sure EVERY Californian has the chance to walk the path of the CA dream just like I have,” she said on social media. Kounalakis would become the first woman ever to govern the Golden State, if elected.
