Are you in the market for a new laser level, but don’t know where to start? Have you lost sleep at night wondering how to distinguish between red and green laser levels? We know we have in the past... and our customers have too! We get a lot of questions about this, so if you're wondering what makes one better than the other too, you’re in the right place.

Aside from the obvious color difference, the functional differences between red and green lasers are not so black-and-white. We assessed the most valuable qualities that users look for in a laser tool, with help from our friends at Bosch, and put the two laser types to the test to see what is best for what applications to make sure that you can get the right tool for the job.

For pro work it is best to have both colors and at least two types of laser!!!. only the job determines which laser is needed. One green or red is not enough for professional and comfortable work for me so far. your video is very helpful for those who want to buy and use a laser for the first time!

@Ohio Power Tool. Thanks Harley for the thorough explanation between the red and green laser levels. Info I can use. Have one of each color.

Hope you, the entire staff at OPT, and your families stay safe and well.
Happy New Year.

outdoor at large distance you won't see green nor red. You have to use receiver and then there is no difference. Most long distance rotary levels are red. Green is good at small distance without receiver

Been tiling for 12 years
Just upgraded to green laser and had to take it back. They are brighter but the beam is too thick for 2mm joints. This might just be dewalt but it was unusable for me. Beam was about 5mm thick Red one is a lot thinner and precise

How about no. You do a good job of explaining what I need to know first, then I'll leave you a like as a reward. I'm not pre-emptively liking when I don't know if the information is good.
Okay now I've watched I actually will like because it was a good succinct summary with good use of stock footage, so good job. But again, I had to watch the video to know that.

Noticed the preference for Bosch lasers. On all around points Bosch is great quality. Maybe in the future you could do some comparison of major brands & do a review on overall quality. Some major brands are definitely way overpriced

Actually, red or green will work to any reasonable range. What matters is if it is actually a laser diode vs a much cheap LED. Green is better in some instances not because of the diode, but because the human eye detects green much better than red.

But how does this make sense if they sell a 50ft green laser level and a 50ft red laser level? So I'm not getting it, is the range for green better or not because they are both saying 50ft.
