RTX Video Super Resolution: Is it Worth the Hype?

In this video, we explore Nvidia's RTX VIDEO SUPER RESOLUTION feature and compare it to the native resolution while also examining GPU power consumption. We take a look at the four levels of VSR upscaling and see the differences in three different scenarios - a talking head video, a gameplay video, and an animation video. my laptop 4080 VSR max settings max resolution consume around 30-40 watts mainly its best feature is video processing and HDR not upscaling

Testing on my 3060ti FE, VSR Quality - 2, it uses average 55 watts on 1080p and with 1080p60fps, can peak 120watt, but about 70watts on average.

The GOOD:
Also I use Nvidia DSR (image sharpening) on 30%. Referring to different content: infographics look awesome, landscapes awesome, car, tech reviews awesome, old footages from 2005-2012 look good, gameplay (with interface and text) awesome.

The BAD:
Blogs look average, animals, human skin looks bad, faces look ugly, plasticky, documentaries, movies look average. The most important thing is that it also applies on QHD and UHD footages, when I don't want. If only there was an option to apply it only on 720p and lower videos and auto-disable when it detects human faces.

The MAIN function of VSR is artefact elimination from low bitrate videos, that it does very good. Also it is useful on live streams
