The development of Gladiator 2 has spanned two decades, initiated by the original Gladiator's sweeping triumph at the Oscars and the box office in 2000. Finally slated for release in 2024, the sequel is set to diverge significantly from Russell Crowe's portrayal in the initial film. Despite the myriad of challenges and evolving story concepts over the years, the confirmed news about Gladiator 2 is that it is indeed in production.

The original Gladiator achieved remarkable success, grossing over $500 million globally in 2000, a feat celebrated by both fans and critics. With 12 Oscar nominations, it secured victories in prestigious categories such as Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe. Ridley Scott, the director of the original film, is set to return as the driving force behind Gladiator 2. I really wish this was true an that Russell Crowe was going to be in it. If the did the movie where he hadn't died but was believed dead an than found to be severely injured instead and for the sake of Rome left that would be an epic come back. The game of thrones scenes gave it away.
