Retro (bazaar) Style Interior Design literally besets several decades of styles, and the term itself as interior design magazines often say is used to describe an interior decoration of mixed styles and objects that are influenced by trends and styles from the past, second hand and new. While this definition means that just about any era could be considered “retro”, the term is more commonly used to describe decor from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.
The unusual style creation of Retro is most probably influenced by the post-war period in the 1960s, when young and active people were trying to spread peace, love, and freedom by all means available.
Retro and vintage style are often combined or bridge to each other. These two styles can and mostly do frequently cross over.
Retro style decorating usually has a fun, lively feel to it, with bright colors, wild designs and an overall sense of “talent”. There’s nothing easygoing or casual about retro-style decorating. On the contrary, it is loud, busy and most definitely “funky”.
So, how can you bring retro style decorating inside your home? Let’s take a look at some common features of this enlivening decorating style:
BRIGHT COLORS IN RETRO STYLE

One of the easiest ways to give a room a retro feel is to choose retro colors. Avocado green is the most popular retro color choice, then we have mustard yellow and combinations of brown, achromatic white and black, orange and red. In addition, purple and pink both make a great addition to your retro decor.
FLUENCY OF LINES, CLEARNESS OF SHAPES

There is no such term as “furniture complex” by the retro interior design. Buildings were filled with items, which were incompatible at a first glance, but rather functional and comfortable.
UNCOMMON MATERIALS FOR FURNITURE PRODUCTION

Retro style furniture has an abstract feel to it, with each piece almost fighting for the limelight as the focal point of the room. Sofas are broad and elongated with multi-colored throw pillows for an added dash of color. The sixties were the times of progress, allowing to use uncommon materials for furniture production. For instance, plastic could be used for chairs, tables, lamp shades and others.
UNUSUAL DECOR, THE HEART OF RETRO STYLE

The chief idea for the retro-styled buildings was to create a cozy and cheering atmosphere, therefore people tried to fill the house with unusual and bright items as well as huge amount of books (as the youth were highly intellectual then).
The interior could contain fuzzy throw rugs, door beads, lava lamps, skate tables and scoop stools.
