John MacArthur: SEDUCED BY THE CHARISMATIC CULT

Dr. John MacArthur is—far and away—America’s greatest Bible teacher. In 2015, I had a burning desire to understand what the Bible really meant, however, everywhere I searched, all
I found was grossly undereducated men who called themselves “preachers” or “pastors” who were chiefly interested in:
1. Making money
2. Gaining popularity
3. Spreading a false gospel

It was quite obvious to me they had very little Biblical knowledge.

MacArthur, on the other hand, has a vast knowledge of the Bible and goes to great pains to explain it so articulately. I can honestly say that he changed the direction of my life. I am forever grateful to find such a wonderful teacher. Therefore, I’ve created this YouTube channel in order to propagate his accurate and thorough Biblical teachings.

Here you will find a wealth of information on virtually any subject in God’s Word. You can search by scripture, Books of the Bible, or keywords.

MacArthur is not focused on making money, unlike many false Christian preachers today. You can download his sermons for FREE! Just click on this link to go directly to his sermons.

I pray that God blesses you with a deeper understanding of the Word of God!

I, was in a pentecostal church were they teach you speaking in tongues and other things. When I've heard a sermon about false teachers I was shocked but compared his words what the bible says I cried. Now praise God he took me out of that what so called a church. Thanks God for preachers like you who is not afraid to expose false prophets and teachers. Thank-you Lord

I’m hearing a lot of talk out of you John, But not a lot of scripture. I can find in my Bible, verses for spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12), speaking in tongues, and authority over demons (luke 10:19) Sounds like you preach a form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof. ( 2 Timothy 3:5-7) People aren’t meant to operate based on what “feels” like the truth. Our hearts are exceedingly wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Some people “feel” that they are suppose to be a different gender, or they “feel” that abortion is fine. That’s a dangerous game you’re playing with your sheep. Stick to what scripture says or get out of the pulpit.

Jesus is the truth, the way, and the life. The Bible speaks for itself, especially now that Hebrew, Greek, and other languages are easily discerned for accuracy, not simply opinion and divisive self edifying commentaries. I believe Jesus is likely disappointed with all the slanders and divisions between denominations, Pastors, Preachers, and teachers. We should be coming together in truth and harmony complementing each other in the fullness of Christ. Perhaps we would all be best served by focusing on basic truths and doctrines - i.e. the incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection, as well as salvation, redemption, repentance, sanctification, love, hope, faith, mercy, forgiveness, and grace. Maybe we should avoid denominationalizing and simply be Christians based on having Christ-like Holy Spirit filled character?

That's why God wants us to earnestly pray for the Holy Spirit to be in us for us to have discernment. In this way we can't be cheated by the devil.

The Holy Spirit is the Truth. So only MacArthurs teaching is the truth? Every other Christian teaching is of the devil. Isn't the devil the accuser of the brethren? Jesus is the Truth.

Dr. MacArthur errantly states concerning getting saved:
“The narrow gate is hard to find and hard to go through, because it demands: denial of self, denial of self-righteousness, recognition of sin, full repentance, submission to Christ, commitment to obey Him, and follow Him no matter what the cost!” —Pastor John MacArthur, a quote from his sermon titled, “Saved Or Self-Deceived, Part One” (time: 4:25 in YouTube sermon video)
Let's list the SEVEN requirements for salvation which Mr. MacArthur just mentioned:
1. Denial of self
2. Denial of self-righteousness (this one is Biblical, you've got to trust Jesus alone)
3. Recognition of sin (this one is Biblical, you've got to know what you're being saved from)
4. Full repentance
5. Submission to Christ
6. Commitment to obey Christ
7. Follow Jesus (no matter what the cost)
Ladies and gentlemen, that is not “THE GOSPEL.” The 'GOSPEL' (or, 'GOOD NEWS') is about Jesus Christ's DEATH on the cross, His BURIAL and subsequent bodily RESURRECTION three days later. This is “THE GOSPEL” according to the apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 15:1-6. Mr. MacArthur doesn't mention any of this in his requirements to make it thru the narrow gate. The ONLY requirement for salvation is to recognize your need as a GUILTY SINNER. What do we need? We need the precious Savior, Who has the nail-scared hands and feet! Romans 3:19, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” The hardest part about getting people saved is first getting them lost. Once a person recognizes their lost condition as a guilty sinner, then it is easy to bring them to Jesus Christ to be saved BY FAITH alone.

I agree some Charismatics can need careful assessment and discernment. Surely though, anybody such as John Mac who thinks he has everything right could very easily be referred to as leading a cult too? Is that not their nature? Ignore everybody else I have all the truth? I would have much more respect for John Mac if he were to qualify some of his teachings by saying this is what he believes and why, rather than insisting he cannot ever be wrong.

Jesus said in my name believers will cast out devil's and speak in new tounges. I love brother Mac but as a believer I refuse to trade my relationship with the Holy Spirit in exchange for John MacArthur's brilliant teaching on God's Word. The Holy Spirit is The Teacher and he reveals Himself in is Word of no private interpretation but yet personal and unique to each individual. God is Big enough to have a unique relationship with every believer and not limited to the confines of John MacArthur's interpretation of the word of God. The body of Christ is made up of believers . Apostles prophets evangelists pastors and teachers. I trace my lineage as a Christian to Galatians 3:29 which says if you belong to Christ then are you Abraham seed in heirs according to the promise.

I too like MacArthur's teachings, in some areas he's spot on. The problem with his take on spiritual gifts is that, since HE never spoke in tongues, it doesn't exist. I do believe that many people who think they are speaking in tongues, are not. And they are conjuring up a false experience, and just making words up as they go, and when other people hear this, it's easy to decipher that it sounds false. But, I know what happened to me was totally different and REAL ! And nobody can take that away from me. And even though I understand that being a Christian is not about " feelings", and "experiences" of this type, it was the most amazing experience of my life.

I have liked some of Pastor's teaching too, and especially his stance against the lies during the Covid mismanagement. That was real character. But being blind to deeply Spiritual things he doesn't understand makes me truly sad. To discern Spiritual truth with the flesh is a serious grief to fellow believers and to God. There's only one word for it, and that's the one he's applying to God's glory—deception—so who’s deceived? Jesus paid fully on the cross for us to have His wonderful provision of the Holy Spirit, through all generations (and incidentally what He plainly warned not to say was from the opposite source to God--with the most serious consequences). Spiritual things always look foolish to the world and the carnal mind, but that kind of foolishness has no place in the church. The Pharisees couldn't see how Jesus could be from God. I'm not angry but so saddened for our obviously sincere pastor and the people he unwittingly leads into error. They are settling for so much less. Forgive us Lord I pray. I accept that the types of books he mentioned would undoubtedly have swayed him and he may be speaking about a part of the Charismatic movement I know nothing of, but 50 years in it has convinced me otherwise to what he’s saying.

What's 'Hyper Charismatic movement'? My wife and I consider ourselves Charismatic, and have known Charismatic believers for 5 decades. Most are truly among the most godly, Jesus loving Christian's that we've known. Let's not be divisive unnecessarily but united around Jesus and God's holy Word.

Awesome, sister. Thank you, John. This has been my experience. And I'm so glad God's spirit navigated me to Grace Community Church. I've only attended one time years back. I've been a truck driver for a year and a half now and any time work has me coming to the L.A. area, I try to stop by. Other than that, I watch your channel on YouTube all the time. I love your ministry.

Tongues are a sign for the unbeliever (1 Cor. 14:22). So why do most believers who receive the gift of tongues assume it is to bless the corporate church AND that the unbelievers are everyone else? I.e., "I demand to use the gift of tongues to bless the church and show all the unbelievers?" Such is very presumptive and fleshly. So what if the gift of tongues was given only to help the receiver overcome a personal faith problem? I.e., "I am the unbeliever who needed the gift of tongues to cement my faith?" That's what it was for me and never once have I had a leading to use the gift in a corporate setting. Still, it aches my heart when people claim tongues have ceased and discourage believers from asking for spiritual gifts. It also aches my heart that charismania has elevated the gifts and experience above the Word and there is no accountability for falsehood.

I love John's teaching and he's correct to reject the extremes of the charismatic movement, but he's entirely mistaken in asserting that the gifts have ceased.
I became a Christian through a word of knowledge and a vision 44 years ago and many come to Christ through means that, in cessationist theory, are outlawed.
There simply is no basis in scripture for teaching cessationist doctrine, unless you're torturous in your interpretation.
I think it's the abuse of the gifts which leads to the embrace of cessationist theology at this point, which is understandable but wrong.

To simply use the term Charismatic to paint all Christians the same who use the gifts of the Holy spirit is a great injustice.

I enjoy Pastor MacArthur's teaching but he has it wrong on things like saying casting out demons was only for the Apostles day.
Wish he would explain then what Jesus meant in John 14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
Jesus says he who believes in me. If those things such as casting out demons was only for His disciples then why would He say this?

MacArthur’s God complex convinces him that he is the only one preaching doctrinal Truth. Repeating this over and over doesn’t make it so — besides, what he believes can’t be totally true because it differs from what I believe and what I believe is the only real doctrinal truth 😆

Emily, I am happy to hear that by the GRACE of God your marriage has been saved. I believe that God directed me to Pastor John McArthur because his teachings are solid. May the Lord continue to keep your marriage stronger each day.
