I want to go to the rally on Friday in Detroit but have no more vacation time. Can I still get in trouble if I decide not to go to work on Friday?

People do not understand that all the people that make and ship the parts to the assembly plants will be devastated by this strike.

if the big 3 wants to be competitive, make cars people want to buy. cars that will last. not by paying the working person less. thats not being competitive

A little perspective and passing along facts that can be found on line and in old contract books.

My pay per hour as GM skilled trades in 2006 was at $34 per hour. Adjusted for inflation that would be $52 per hour today. At my current rate of $37 per hour I have taken a 30% pay cut.

GM CEO Rick Wagoner was paid $2.2M in 2006, adjusted for inflation that is $3.4M.

Mary Barra makes $29M. 8.5 times more than the amount adjusted for inflation.

My hourly pay would be $442 per hour if it was adjusted at the same rate as Barra's.

GM's US hourly workforce has also been reduced by 70% over the same period of time.

My pay is lower, workforce is less and prices are going up, not our fault.

Your countdown clock is a day off. Expired Thursday at 11:59 pm not Wednesday.

No one wins with a strike including the consumer. For example, Ford will move Louisville plant to Mexico, and Chicago Assembly will probably get no new product in future. Stellantis is threatening to move Ram production out of Detroit. So Detroit will be the big loser also. Very tragic situation except for Tesla and Asian based auto producers.

Tiers leave
TPT abuse ends immediately
COLA returns so we keep up and stop these fights.
10% raise or this member votes NO. The list is in order too.

ironically, it might be that the threat from Tesla, Toyota, Honda, etc is the UAW's greatest leverage against the big 3. companies might be more willing to negotiate if they're about to be checkmated by their competitors.
