The Shadows of the east, what mysteries hide in them?

Just sharing my ideas one of my favorite book series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. This video may contain spoilers for those of you who are not up to date with the series. That goes for the HBO show and the books.

I'm just speculating and guessing on some ideas that I have on how future events will transpire in the series. Keep in mind however, I know nothing.

Feel free to leave a comment like and subscribe!

Thanks For Watching!

If Nyarlathotep walks the world of ice and fire in human form, it's Euron.

With all this talk of Nyarlothotep, I wonder why no one has made the connection to Euron as the personification of the Messenger of the Old Ones on earth. He is an agent of chaos, delights in torture and pain, and wants to become a god. He also made a deal with one of the Great Old Ones for power and knowledge. He laughs at the gods of mortals and mocks them, in Aeron's vision he is seen towering above all of them, while they are impaled on spikes, dead and defeated. But he is not himself anymore, but the drowned God/Cthulhu.
Euron is no mere member of the Church of Starry Wisdom. Euron IS Nyarlothotep personified, the agent of the Great Old Ones, harbinger of a time where the Gods of Men will be cast down and the world remade in chaos, in the eternal cycle.

I definitely get the impression that the world of ice and fire is in some sort of conflict between multiple supernatural entities. The likely conduits for them are the black oily stones (not sure if its the same/different as obsidian) and the weirwood trees.
The Ironborn have their seastone chair, so they have likely been pawns of the dark god for some time. The preview chapter with Euron Greyjoy suggests that he is a likely candidate as host for otherworldly consciousness.
The Ironborn were also the ones who built Harrenhal, which I believe will one day be home to the army of the dead. I mean, nothing else could possibly fully man it, and it IS said to be cursed. . . .
but yeah, this ties nicely with that.

Between "the faceless god" and "thousand other forms" the obvious association that jumps at you is the Many Faced God...

Well, when you mentioned an emissary of the old ones who moves around tricking people, Quaith was the first that came to mind.

Maybe the Bloodstone Emperor was the Nyarlathotep figure it could line up with LML's theory of BSE reborn into Azor Ahai and seems to line up with what Euron is up to right now in the books

I loooove the videos on the Lovecraft references in ASOIAF. It really enhances the understanding of George’s themes and view of the world, at least the one he’s created. I’m not saying you NEED to understand Lovecraft in order to understand the books, but knowing his works is again a great enhancement. Thanks again! These are great theory videos and have definitely inspired my own fantasy series (or two).

Good Video! One of my favourite topics.
Definitely a few places mentioned in WOIAF going very deep underground and mentions about people who travel in these tunnels/cave systems going mad. Leng, Lorath, House of the Undying, Bran's cave maybe Winterfell crypts all have potential to serve as entrances of tombs or prisons of some types of old gods, or lead to some R'lyeh type underworld maybe?

Just have to say how much I enjoy your channel. I've of course loved the Dune content. Also you ignited my curiosity for the world of ice and fire. I've started reading George R R Martin.
One last thing, you have a wonderful reading vioce. I would enjoy hearing you on an audiobook. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Please continue your great work. Thank you ... Michael 🐝

This was awesome 🌟 as usual. I know that the old gods are stirring! I remember that in Volantis at the Red Temple of R'hollor The priest writing a a spell in FIRE, the letters would stay alight! The old woman who Jorah gifts with the gloves tells him 2 bring the Dragon Queen 2 Volantis 2 free the slaves.

Beautiful video as always. If this mysterious creature walks among the people of Westeros, he could be somebody obvious.

Here's a question no one has answered yet or I haven't seen...What's the wall of light far to the north? Why does whatever is behind that light causes Bran to forgo the same reactions as people in Lovecraft lore?

maybe Pate the pig boy that Sam meets in "a feast of crows" could be Nyarlathotep or one of his pawns so to sow madness in Marwen the magi
